Hi I'm Courtney

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, and a friend. Those who know me, joke that I never stop! I have 4 beautiful children. I've been married to my best friend for 13 years. I can honestly say that it just keeps getting better. He is awesome! Our oldest is a girl, and she is 10. She is in dance, cross country, basketball, recycling club, activity days, and plays the clarinet. Our oldest son is 8 and got baptized this summer! He is a football player, in karate, chess club, and boyscouts. Our kindergartener is a blast! I love this age! He takes tap and karate. Our youngest is 14 months old and a handful! Maybe I've just forgotten, but he seems to be the busiest of all my kids. Don't tell him he is a baby, because he is too busy keeping up with them! Most of my time is spent taking care of my family, but I do enjoy riding my bike, running, reading, baking, sewing, and spending time with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

When I chose to become a Mormon, I was 19 years old. It was by far the best decision I have ever made. Having the gospel in my life has brought me peace of mind. Of course I still worry about the health of my family, our finances, and all the other things we all worry about. The difference is that, as a Mormon, I have an eternal persective. I know that my family has been sealed to me for all eternity, and that our life here on earth is brief. I have the scriptures to help me. The warmth, comfort, and guidance the Holy Ghost has given me has been monumental. I love going to church each Sunday (really, I'm not just saying that!). I love my ward family. We truly care about each other and love spending time together. Before, I really didn't have a network of friends. Now, I am surrounded by pople that love me and my family and have served us so sweetly. In return, I have learned how wonderful it feels to serve others within our church, community, and even the world. It may seem overwhelming to you, and a bit cheesy. Maybe it is. But it has changed my life. I grew up in a home with two alcoholics and nothing to hang on to. Being a Mormon is everything to me. I am not lost, I have a purpose on this earth. My Heavenly Father loves ME, HE knows ME! He knows and love YOU too!

How I live my faith

I try to be a better person every day. Starting January 1st, 2011, I began reading the scriptures every morning. Just a chapter or two, it only takes me 5 minutes. The days that I get busy and don't, I feel like something is missing. I really enjoy reading them and learning about the Savior and the prophets and it gives me perspective. The trials they went through make my trials seem so small. I am a leader in our young women's program. This is a program for ladies ages 12-18. I LOVE it! I am so thankful that my daughter will be able to participate in a few years and that my son's will be in the young men's program. We get together on Thursday evenings at the church and do a variety of things. Crafts, games, sports, service, all kinds of things. I also teach them on Sunday's. I can't imagine how much easier my youth years would have been if I'd been a part of it! My husband and I do what we can to keep the Spirit strong in our home. We pray often, with our family and on our own. We follow the Word of Wisdom and try to keep ourselves and our children healthy. We have family home evening on Monday nights. It includes: prayer, hymns, scripture lesson, and something super fun (anything from a game of hide-n-seek to going bowling). Our life is clean, modest, busy, and lots of fun. I wouldn't change a thing about it!
