Hi I'm Merial

Some say I'm a fiesty redhead, I love anything made from a pumpkin, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Merial. I'm 21 years old and I have been attending Utah State University. I love spending time with family and friends doing all sorts of activities. During the summer I wish I could live on the lake jet-skiing and tubing. Four-wheeling and camping every weekend would be a dream come true. I love being involved in school and church activities. I'm very involved with my church and love being able to spend time with people and talk about our purpose in life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in Utah and as a member of the church. Being raised in Utah I assumed everyone was Mormon. As I grew older and became friends with nonmembers I learned of missionary work. Even though I was about twelve or thirteen when I learned of this I assumed that you were only a missionary when serving a full time mission. In a young women's lesson I learned that we should always set an example and share our beliefs with others. My own personal "conversion" took place at the age of sixteen. I had a rough day of school so I decided to stay after seminary and talk with my teacher. I told him of my struggles at home, in school, and with my friends. He quickly reassured me that life will get better. He then told me if something was bothering me I needed to pray with real intent and study about it in the Topical Guide or the Bible Dictionary. I did just that. I went home from school, turned my cell phone off, prayed for guidance and comfort as I looked for a way to continue in life per say. That day I read about Happiness in the Bible Dictionary and looked up each reference for hours. The reassurance I received that life will get better overwhelmed me! Suddenly I knew that happiness here on Earth was my own decision. I will always stand by the power of prayer and scripture study. My testimony was built for myself that day. I knew where I stood with the gospel and what I now needed to do with it and how I needed to apply it to my everyday life. Spread the message of Happiness!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by connecting with my Father in Heaven everyday. I do my best to read my scriptures daily, say my personal prayers, and heed to follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Attending church functions as often as possible help me to stay connected with my ward family and keep the thought of the gospel in my heart and mind. Most importantly I try to keep a smile on my face to show the joy this gospel brings to me!

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Everybody is capable of feeling the presence and confirmation of the Holy Ghost for a time. We are able to receive the Holy Ghost when we are confirmed a member of the church. The Holy Ghost is a member of the Godhead, along with God our Heavenly Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. He is a spirit we can feel within us. As a spirit he can guide us, comfort us, teach us, and sanctify us. The Holy Ghost does not have a body but is a person of Spirit. The Holy Ghost helps you decipher between what is right and what is wrong. We are able to feel the Holy Ghost through thoughts, actions, feelings of love, peace, joy, happiness, and anything good that can be recgonized as from God. Show more Show less
