Hi I'm Eric

I'm a dentist in Provo Utah, 10 years ago I started a charity to help bring dental care to the poor here and abroad. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to the most wonderful girl in the world. After 28 years of marriage we love each other more than ever. We have eight children, 6 boys and two girls. Ages 27 to 10. I am a third generation dentist and have been in practice 23 years. I love to run and have done 10 marathons and one ultra marathon (56 miles and 12,000 feet of elevation gain). I speak English, Spanish, Russian, French, and Chinese. I have been so blessed in my life I feel like the best way I can express my gratitude to God is by serving his children. For ten years we have provided free dental care to the poor here where I live every month and we have traveled the world providing dental care and other services to those we find in need including South and Central America, China, Russia, Morocco, and Belarus. Just last week I was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer. This is a great test of my faith but I believe that God has a plan for me and that with his help I can overcome this challenge. It has now been six months six my cancer diagnosis. I was blessed to be treated by wonderful doctors at Mayo clinic. My right jaw was removed and rebuilt using my right fibula. I have been through chemotherapy and am now slowly recovering. This has been the hardest thing I have ever faced in my life but I have seen miracles and have felt my Heavenly Father's love for me throughout this ordeal. (vogelzoo.blogspot.com) I am so grateful to know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At first that was enough but later I had to find my own answers. I looked at the lives of those who lived the standards of our faith and how happy they seemed to be I wanted a life like that. I read the scriptures and felt a burning in my heart unlike anything else I had ever felt. I could find no other explanation, those feeling must be from God. I found that in times of need I could turn to my Heavenly Father in prayer and he would answer me. Later I had the opportunity to serve as a missionary in Bolivia. I found that true happiness came not from material possessions but from following the Lord Jesus Christ. I loved to see peoples lives transformed by the light of the gospel. My life has been transformed as well.

How I live my faith

I love to serve in the church. One of the things I love best is to be with the youth. For many years I served in the scouting program. Many of those boys became like sons to me. I cried with them through their struggles and rejoiced with them in their successes. Many of these boys have now grown up and are serving the youth where they live. I love to see them having the same wonderful experiences that I had when they give their hearts away serving others.
