Hi I'm Kyle

I'm a scientist. I had no religion. I had some friends that set a good example. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small suburb of Phoenix called Higley, AZ. However Higley has since grown into a giant city better known as Gilbert. Right now i'm a full-time college student with a focus in Geo-Sciences. My life long passion has been science hopefully one day i'll finish school with a Bachelors of Science from the University of Arizona. I am deeply in love with my girlfriend, Chanel, and are looking to get married soon in the Lord's temple. I love being active and outdoors and especially like to play soccer.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was 13 years old. Even after baptism, life did not get any easier for me and i became less-active in the church. At first I led myself down a dark road. When I was 15 I witnessed a very close friend's death from a drug overdose. I decided i needed something new in my life, so i switched the school I was attending to one closer to my house and started over. At my new school, I had a lot of great friends that influenced me for the better and taught me more about the church. My senior year of high school a friend convinced me to attend a church summer camp known as EFY (Especially For Youth). That week changed my life forever. On the last day of camp, we watched a video of the Prophet of the church bear his testimony of Gods love for the youth all over the world. I had finally gained a testimony after five years of inactivity. I gained a testimony of Gods love for his children, and that he still calls prophets to guide us today. That testimony led me to serve a two year mission in south america. That testimony, and the influence of good friends continues to bless my life today. I know God loves everyone of us. I know that he still called prophets and apostles to guide us through troublesome times. I know Jesus Christ is the savior of the world.

How I live my faith

Going to church and answering questions friends may have help me live my faith. I am never ashamed to admit that I am a member of this church. I love answering questions people may have about the Book of Mormon or any other aspect of our religion. I love to see their faces when they come to understand that we too are a christian faith and share many of the same beliefs.

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

Kyle
The Book of Mormon is a volume of holy scripture, just like the Bible. They were both written by ancient prophets but on two different continents. The Bible was recorded in the old world, while the Book of Mormon was written in the Americas around the same time. They both testify that Jesus Christ is the son of God and the savior of the world. The Book Of Mormon was hidden (buried) in the ground by an ancient prophet called Moroni. He hid them because God instructed him to do so, because the enemies of God would seek out the record (engraved on golden, metal plates) to try and destroy it. In 1823, the same prophet Moroni, but now an angel of God, appeared to the man Joseph Smith and informed him that God had chosen him to bring forth the record and translate it into english.
