Hi I'm Deborah

I'm married to my best friend. I'm the mother of five. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a love of all things organized and efficient, but since I have five children I don't really live with organization or efficiency. I have learned to roll with the punches and enjoy time with my family more than any other activity. My youngest is about to become a teenager, but I still like reading out loud to my children. My week always ends with a hot date with my husband. After 23 years, he still thinks I am the greatest thing ever, and I am trying hard to keep him convinced! I love Mexican food, trying to decorate my house on a budget, and keeping track of our family's memories.

Why I am a Mormon

A study of the scriptures, sincere prayer, and experience with feeling the Holy Ghost have helped me to learn that our Heavenly Father loves his children in our day and age just as much as he loved his children in ancient times. He wants to guide us and help us through a living prophet just as he did anciently. While I continue to study and learn, and I don't claim to understand all things, I have felt the Holy Ghost in undeniable ways witness to me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is literally the restoration of Christ's ancient church. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings tremendous happiness into my life, helps me to prioritize those things that are of real importance, and strengthens me and my family.

How I live my faith

The teachings of the gospel influence the ways that I interact with my husband and children. For example, knowing that my husband and I both believe in standards of personal virtue and purity helps me to love him more deeply and completely. Knowing that things like pornography and infidelity will not be a part of our marriage gives me a deep sense of security. I love working together with him, praying for our children, and knowing that nothing else we do will be more important than raising our family together. My church service also gives me great opportunities to reach out to others in my community. I have the chance to interact with children and their teachers in many congregations, and when I do, I can feel God's love for them. I am amazed at the strength of the youth in my church and I love doing things with them, like going to camp in the summer with our young women. They are incredible examples of Christ like living to me. Mostly, I think living my faith means trying hard each day to follow the example of the Savior. Some days I fall short of my goal, but the best part for me is that when I try, he magnifies my efforts, fills me with his love, and helps me to feel that I really can change into something better than I am. The atonement of Jesus Christ helps to heal me every day from my own mistakes and from the mistakes of others.
