Hi I'm Jan

I am a wife and mother of twelve children, been involved in the scouting program for 25 years. I am a Mormon.

About Me

With eight of my twelve children being sons, I have been actively involved in the scouting program since 1986 and love scouting. I live on a farm and I enjoy growing berries, fruit trees and planting a large garden. I work hard each fall canning produce, trying not to let anything go to waste. I currently have 20 grandchildren and expect many more as I still have children at home. I love being a grandma, having playhouses, swings, bunnies, kittens, chickens and ponies to ride, making grandma’s a fun place to be.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is the only church that has all the saving principles and ordinance of the gospel of Jesus Christ that will make it possible for me to return to live with my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ again. By obeying the teaching of the gospel my family has avoided many problems. We have been abundantly blessed in all areas of our lives by being member of the church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live the teaching of Jesus Christ the best I can. As a family we read scriptures together. Currently we are reading from the Book of Mormon each morning and the New Testament each night. We have always taken time on Monday nights to have a spiritual message together. We pray together, we serve each other and look for ways to serve others. Most of my church calling have been in the scouting or primary organizations, working with children of the church and community.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

I know there is a God because he has heard my prayers. Several times when i have prayed I have received answers in such a way that I know only I and my Father in Heaven knew what I had said in my prayer and he answered me. Sometimes words to a hymn have come to my mind as the answer. Sometimes an idea has entered my thoughts. Many times I have been lead to things I have lost and needed right then. And sometimes when I have prayed I am overwhelmed with a feeling of comfort and reassurance that he is there. I know there is a God because he hears me when I pray. Show more Show less

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

My faith in Jesus Christ leads me to try to be like him and follow his teachings. This defiantly helps my marriage and family relationships because it make me be more forgiving, tolerant, kind, humble, and repentant. Show more Show less
