Hi I'm Phil

I'm from Canada, but now a Texan. I'm a gamer, a lover of classic books, a sports enthusiast, father, and husband. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a bit of it all. I love video games, but I also love to read classic novels. I play rugby and basketball. I'm a jock-geek. I have a masters in advertising, but my true passion is sales. Most importantly, though, I'm a father of three awesome little girls and a husband to a beautiful lady.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church, so it's the only religion I have every practiced. Some people may think that's a little myopic, but I feel it's helped me know who I am. When I was a teenager, contemplating becoming a missionary, I had to ask myself whether I really believed in the church. I did a lot of praying and soul searching, and as I prayed and read The Book of Mormon I felt in my heart that what I was reading was true. I knew that it came from my Heavenly Father. Since then I have continued to read The Book of Mormon, and it has continued to help my faith in Jesus Christ grow. I may have been born into the Mormon church, but I choose to continue to be a member because I know it's true.

How I live my faith

I am a youth adviser for 16- and 17-year-old boys. A lot of people look down on the youth of today, but if you met the boys I get to hang out with, you wouldn't feel the same way. These young men are some of the greatest teenagers you'd ever want to meet. They're funny, smart, talented, and they love to help other people. My job is to help teach them Sunday School lessons and to give them advice and guidance. I love being able to spend time with them, because I learn just as much from them as they do from me. I can share my love for Jesus Christ with them and help them to develop that same kind of personal relationship with Him. I love those boys, and I'm grateful for the opportunity I have each Sunday and Wednesday to hang out with them.
