Hi I'm Jake

I'm a husband, father, farmer, MXer, hunter, skiier, skateboarder. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 5 years to the girl of my dreams, we have a son, and a daughter due in november. I enjoy working, hunting, riding my dirtbike, skiing, and anything else that gives me an adrenaline rush. I work on a 2000+ acre alfalfa farm with my dad, and love what I do. I have a duramax diesel pickup that I love to work on and enter into dyno and drag racing competitions.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the mormon church, but it wasn't until I was out on my own that I realized the love that our savior has for each and everyone of us. While backcountry skiing on the Teton pass in Wyoming I was in a skiing accident that left me with a broken back, fractured sacrum, partially collapsed lung, and hypothermia. Not knowing at the time that I had shattered my T-12 vertabrae, I was going to hike out. I tried for about half an hour and after only making 50 feet of progress, I prayed to my heavenly father. I asked him that I would make it out safely. The second I finished that prayer, my cousin who was with me at the time, came over the hill and told me he had called 911 and that search and rescue were on their way. The search and rescue got me safely to the hospital. It was an immediate answer to my prayer. My family made it to my side, and I received a preisthood blessing from my dad and cousin that I would be healed. I underwent emergency surgery, adding two 12" titanium rods, 10 screws, and my own and a cadaver's bone graphs to mend my broken back. It's coming up on four years since this happened. If you look at me today, there would be no way to tell I went through this ordeal, other than two mild scars, one on my back, and one on my hip. After my Heavenly Father poured out those blessings and many many others upon myself and my family, I cannot deny his existance. Nor can I blame my miracles on luck, for I know our Heavenly Father lives and answers our prayers. I know he knows each of us, and cares for each of us on a personal level. I know he sent his son Jesus Christ, who suffered for my sins. I know that through the atonement of Jesus Christ we can return to live with our Heavenly Father. I know my savior lives.

How I live my faith

I enjoy spending time with my family and taking them to church on Sunday. I enjoy my calling as an assistant advisor in the Young Mens Priests Quorum. It's refreshing to see how faithful and obedient the youth in the ward are, and most of the time they're teaching me! I strive to fulfill my callings, and to become more like Christ.
