What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Kristen Carlson
It is impossible to put into words the full meaning of the Atonement, which is the most important and most transcendent event in the history of the world. Jesus Christ did what only He could do in atoning for our sins. To make His Atonement fully effective in our individual lives, we must have faith in Christ, repent of our sins, be baptized and confirmed by one having authority, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, obey God’s commandments, receive sacred ordinances, and strive to become like Him. What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Kristen Carlson
Baptism in water is an ordinance essential to our salvation. By being baptized, we show God that we are willing to be obedient to His commandments. Jesus set the example for us by being baptized, even though He was without sin (see Matthew 3:13-17). When we are baptized, we enter into a covenant, a two-way promise, with God. We promise to take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ, to keep His commandments, and to serve Him to the end, and He covenants that we may always have His Spirit (Holy Ghost) to be with us. Immersion is symbolic of the death of a person’s sinful life and the rebirth into a spiritual life, dedicated to the service of God and His children. Show more Show less

Kristen Carlson
I have a few suggestions on how we can stop the influence of pornography. 1.If you have a computer at home, you can block certain websites. You can put restrictions on what websites you don't want to be shown. 2. If your watching TV and if a pornography commercial shows up, change the channel. If that doesn't work block the channel and if you need to put a password on the channel. 3. Pray to heavenly father and ask him for guidance. Ask him what you can do. Show more Show less
