Hi I'm Samantha.

I'm a warm weather girl and a bubbly sister missionary for the LDS church. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As crazy as it may seem to my parents (okay, maybe it still seems crazy to me...but just a little ;) ) I just recently completed my first whole semester at college. It was one of the most exciting, adventurous, uplifting, discouraging, and difficult things I have done to this point in my life. A lot of it was a major wake up call to me...about how much it really costs to live in the real world, how hard it is to stay motivated to work when I don't have my mom constantly checking up on me, and especially how hard it can be to leave everything I'd ever known and start all over in a new place. However, the friends I made there and the things I learned have encouraged me to embrace change rather than fear it, and I'm so grateful for the opportunities that this understanding has already provided me, and hopefully will continue to do so. :)

Why I am a Mormon

My whole life, I have grown up in the church, but that doesn’t mean I’m only a member because my parents expect me to be. It may have started out a bit like that, as an eight-year-old getting baptized. But as I have grown up, I have developed my own understanding of this church. I’ve learned for myself the reasons why Joseph Smith restored the church, and why it is important to me, 180+ years later. I’ve learned that there is a reason I am here on this earth, and that my life has a purpose. I’ve grown to know my Savior Jesus Christ, and I am striving each day to follow His perfect example. I know that this church is true, with every part of my soul, and I know it because I have taken the time to study what He taught and search out the answers to questions for myself, instead of solely relying on what my parents and teachers have taught me they that they believe.

How I live my faith

Being LDS is a huge part of my life. My religion affects everything I do, from what I wear and how I spend my Monday nights, to what lessons I take away from my classes at school. For the next 18 months of my life, I have volunteered to offer my time to the Lord as I serve a full-time mission. In this capacity as a full-time missionary, I will have the opportunity to share what I know about the LDS church and what we believe, and most importantly, invite everyone around me to come to their Savior Jesus Christ by being baptized and committing to live as He would have them live. I know that this mission will be an incredible opportunity for me to share with everyone all that I have learned in my life and give a piece of the joy and love I feel each day as a result of being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity.
