Hi I'm Annette

I'm a mom of 5, I'm a competative club volleyball coach, I'm an English teacher, I'm a lover of a good book, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Salt Lake City, UT, where I enjoyed a great childhood filled with many memories of family gatherings, and trips to our family cabin in Star Valley, WY. I went out of state for college and eventually ended up playing volleyball for Arizona State University. I met my husband Brad my last sememster of undergraduate school. We married and started our family. I worked full time as a teacher while my husband finished his undergraduate degree, and I finished my Master's degree. I quit working when our second was born and I have been priviledged to be able to stay home with our 5 children. I have returned to the classroom now that our youngest is in school full-time.  I coach my daughters in competative volleyball, and love every minute of it. I love spending time with my husband and kids, and love to laugh!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I know that Christ's true church was restored by the Prophet Joseph Smith. The True gospel of Christ was taken from the earth and many good, inspired people tried to carry on His work as best as they could, but the whole truth was not brought back to the earth until 1830. I have questioned and pondered the teachings of Christ and have taken all my questions to the Lord. I received answers to my prayers, and I know that I belong to Christ's true church on earth. I am a very happy person. I experience disappointment and trials just like everyone else, but I am at peace because of my knowledge of where I came from, why I am on earth now, and where I am going when I pass away. This knowledge was acquired through the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This brings incredible peace to my live because I know there is a purpose for our trials, as well as the joys of life.

How I live my faith

I think the best way to share what is so special to me is by living a righteous life where others will see the joy and peace that comes from within. I work with our girl's youth group ages 14-16. We have a spiritual lesson each week together as well as a weekly activity where we serve, have fun, and grow as individuals. I learn from the girl's as much as I hope they learn from me. I am thankful for my opportunity to serve in my church. I am a competitive club volleyball coach for girls ages 11 and 12. It is just as important to me to train them physically as well as teaching them to be good teammates and respectable athletes. My girls are not allowed to use bad language on the court and are not allowed to ever criticize their teammates, coaches, or referees. Before each tournament the girls draw a different name and have to provide a letter pointing out the recipient's positive qualities. We exchange these letters just before our tournament starts. I know these are small things, but I hope years down the road my athletes will remember that the treatment of others is far more important than our win/loss record. The most important job I have on this earth is the teaching of my children. I want them to grow and be a light to others around them. The greatest compliment I could ever receive is a school teacher telling me how kind my children are to their classmates. My kids are very normal children, but I get to hear at conferences with their teachers that my children are kind and respectable to others. This makes me more proud than anything! I am a normal mom, with normal mom problems. My family is a normal family, with normal family problems, but the guidance received through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints gives me help and assistance daily. I am so thankful for the incredible gift of the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life!
