Hi I'm Katy

I'm a wife, a mother, and a sports fan. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mom to one rambunctious little girl, a wife to a sports addict, and have the best family there is. Music has always been a huge part of my life, and I love literature. I'm a woman who loves sports, cooking, and laughing. I take online classes so that I can be with my daughter, and let me tell you--it's a struggle getting the work done when there is a little one who wants to be played with! My life is incredibly chaotic, and yet it fits perfectly for me.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was in high school, I started dating this great guy who turned out to be Mormon. Unfortunately, I was raised in a Protestant Christian home, and both of our parents were very against our relationship. I constantly bobbled between what I was raised to believe was right and what he kept telling me was right. I struggled against myself for many years, continually searching for the truth in a variety of churches and relationships. Finally, an old boyfriend/returned missionary got in touch with me--that great guy from high school wanted to see me again. As we grew closer and he continued to teach me about the Church, I was finally able to find what I had been searching so desperately for. I repented and was baptized by proper authority into Christ's beautiful church. That great guy who had stuck by me all those years and I were finally sealed together in God's holy temple for time and all eternity. My family still has not accepted what the Gospel has done for my life, but I will never give up on them just like my husband never gave up on me. I bear my testimony that this Church can bring hope to the hopeless, comfort to those in need of comfort, peace to the restless, and love to the broken. Heavenly Father, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, has given us a prophet to guide us and the holy scriptures to help us. Through Jesus Christ's atoning sacrifice I have been given the gift of eternal life through obedience and faith. We are so incredibly blessed to have been given so much, even when we are too stubborn sometimes to see it.

How I live my faith

In my ward, I am on the Relief Society meetings committee which means that I help to plan the activities that the women of the Church participate in. It is so much fun! I love meeting people who maybe don't come out very often or are a little shy or even are there for the first time. We do so many different things from service work, to scripture studies, to playing games. It is so important to build good relationships with other members so that you never feel alone, and you always have trustworthy friends with the same goals. I love reading up on not only scripture, but other books written by Church members so that I can be knowledgeable enough to answer my friends and family's questions about the Gospel.
