Hi I'm Desirae

I have two skin colors, I am an Arizonian, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Desirae, I am 14 years old and I live in Arizona. However, I don't act or look like my age. Many people think I am 16 or 17 when they see me. I am a normal teen like anybody else, but I have strong values. Values are very important to me because they show who you are on the inside and on the outside. I think its important for teens going through high school to stay strong and have good values, it helps, trust me! I do have a trial that keeps me strong and that is my skin. I have something called Vitiligo. It is a skin disease that causes the skin color to slowly die. Don't worry it is not contagious! But, it makes very white spots on your skin. people stare and ask about my skin and sometimes make fun of it. I also have a high risk of cancer because of it (plus Arizona's lovely addition to it). How do I stay strong? There are people going through way worse stuff than me.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I Mormon? I couldn't imagine my life not being Mormon! Luckily, I was born into the church, my parents are both Mormon. I am so grateful to be LDS. I look around at school and think , "What are they missing?" They are missing alot. High school is such a challenge to be strong and keep your head high. With the gospel in my life, it helps me through my day 110%. A girl asked me one day ,"Why are we here on earth?" I felt her feelings all of the sudden, she was lost and confused. The worst of all she felt alone. When I answered her question, taking the whole class period explaining the plan of salvation, she suddenly gave a look of "I have something to work towards" Praying and knowing your not alone is the biggest and greatest feeling you could ever have. God is always with you and is always available to talk.

How I live my faith

When I mention going to church on Sunday, they always say , "What! You go to church for 3 hours!" I always answer ,"Yes, it is the best 3 hours of the week." When I walk into the church building many people greet me and make a smile appear on my face. Even for the first time you go to church, it is like seeing your family. WE all love each other and we don't put each other down. The best part is Sacrament meeting, you can feel the spirit so strong. If I am tired and don't feel like waking up on Sunday, I go and right when I walk into the church building I know it's the right place to be.
