Hi I'm Rebecca

I am a mom of three. I teach at a community college. I am an author. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a graduate of Brigham Young University where I earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in communications. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England. Recently I changed jobs and followed in my father's footsteps and became a college professor, currently teaching at a community college. I am married and the mother of three fabulous kids. Reading, blogging, and going to Zumba class are some of my favorite hobbies. I have published two books, entitled 'Adventures with the Word of God' (Horizon/CFI 2008) and 'Family Home Evening Adventures' (Horizon/CFI 2009).

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have found that the principles and practices of the Church resonate deeply in my heart. As a young girl, while studying the scriptures, I received a witness in my heart that Jesus is my Savior and that he really lived on the earth. My prayers have been heard by my Father in Heaven and I know I am his daughter. My life experiences have shown me that following the example of the Savior and living a clean life ultimately leads to a life of peace and happiness. It is my greatest desire to live a life that will enable me to stand confidently in the presence of God and Jesus Christ when my life on earth is finished.

How I live my faith

Living the gospel of Jesus Christ takes daily thought and effort. I try to read my scriptures, pray, write in my journal, and give service -- all on a daily basis. It is often a great challenge, but if I follow the promptings of the Spirit I find that the Lord is there to help me. I find that living the gospel in my own home is sometimes the most challenging of all. I have to dig deep to find the patience and love needed to raise my children in the manner they deserve. As a family we try to have daily family meals, we hold a family night once a week, we read scriptures together, and we try to do a service project once a month. Although I have to work outside of the home to make ends meet, being a mom is extremely important to me and my faith. I feel deeply that nurturing my family is one of the greatest blessings and challenges the Lord has given me. Sometimes it is hard to make it all balance, and I am definitely not perfect (especially after 8 pm!), but I keep trying. I know with the Lord's help I can succeed.
