Hi I'm Jessa

I'm from the Midwest. I'm the middle of five kids. I'm a book worm and a singer. I am a future missionary and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been called to the Germany Frankfurt mission and am reporting in September 2014. I have an amazing and supportive family that I love. I have one sister and three brothers. My older brother is a return missionary and one of my younger brothers is going to be on his mission at the same time as me. They have both been amazing examples to me. I have been living on my own, working in Utah for more than a year, preparing for my mission. I love to read, write, and draw. I love singing and am the type of person to sing or hum around the house. I plan to attend Beauty School when I have completed my mission. I like meeting new people and having fun! I look forward to going to Germany and being God's messenger.

Why I am a Mormon

My family has been Mormon for quite a few generations, but that doesn't mean that I'm not a "converted" member of His gospel, because we all are. Through continued faith and prayer I am progressively finding my own Testimony of the Savior and experiencing my own conversion. I am a Mormon because that knowledge of the Savior brings me joy and happiness.

How I live my faith

I think that the best way for a person to live their faith is to be good people. We teach good things so I do good things. I live in a way that leaves no doubt in people's minds that I honestly believe what I teach. I look for opportunities to serve and love those around me, and that includes everyone, It doesn't matter who they are or where they are from, they are children of God and I treat them as such. I go to church and contribute to our congregation. I have served as a music director, in our women's organization leadership and now in our local missionary efforts. I am going to be a missionary and that means 18 months of continual, devoted service to the spreading of the good word to the people of Germany. It will be a challenge, but I know that it is God's will.

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

Jessa
The Book of Mormon testifies of Christ, just like the Bible does. The two books compliment each other. The Book of Mormon, like the Bible, is written by prophets in olden days but by the prophets that lived in the American continents. It speaks of the growth and conflicts between nations, of the exciting journeys God's messengers, but most importantly, it testifies of Jesus Christ, as the Savior and Redeemer of the world and as the Son of the One True and Living God. Joseph Smith was led by revelation from God. He spent years of being taught and prepared to fulfill his mission of restoring the Church of Jesus Christ in these latter-days, part of which included the translating of The Book of Mormon. When the Lord said that Joseph was ready to retrieve the plates, or The Book of Mormon, Joseph went to the place that they had been buried Show more Show less
