Hi I'm Rolf Samuelsen

I am a Hoosier. I am the father of five and a husband and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to go camping, backpacking, canoeing or kayaking. The fact is that I love the outdoors so much that I built a rappelling tower in my backyard. I learned to love the outdoors with my family and in Boy Scouts. In Boy Scouts I went caving and camping all the time in the Bloomington, Indiana area. West of Bloomington is like swiss cheese with caves and South of Bloomington is the Hoosier National Forest so I spent much of my spare time there. As I grew up I stayed in Boy Scouts as a leader. When I moved east I camped in the mountains of the eastern US till I moved back to Indiana. I am the father of 5 great kids who are good students, into music, sports and theater. My wife and I are so proud of our kids. My love of music helped me to teach my kids and support them in musical pusuits. My love of theater got me involved in community theater as a set building and occcational actor.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) but at some point I had to find out for myself that what the church taught was true. I needed to know for myself that Jesus was indeed the Savior of the world and when I studied and prayed to know that it was true it was confirmed to me through the spirit of God. I have really been blessed to be a member of the church. The church provides my family with a framework and way of life that provides security, happiness, and a loving way to be.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by working with members to see that they are taken care of both spiritually and physically. I love working with the young people the most and although my job in the church is all about the adults I get myself involved with the teenagers as much as I can. I think the church has also taught me to be involved in my community. I love helping with my kids school activities and with community theater. I started building sets for my kids middle school productions and now I built sets for the middle school, the high school and the community theater. It is a way to payback the great things that other did for me when I was a kid and that others do for my kids. For years I also coached soccer for my kids teams at the Boys/Girls club but my kids have all surpased my coaching abilities so theater set building is my thing now.
