Hi I'm Leif Carlson

I love the ocean. In my spare time I love to mow lawns. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Arizona my whole life. I love the beautiful dry heat and getting out and working hard in it. My favorite place to be is out in the ocean. Kind of hard when Arizona doesn't have one. But, there are benefits of having your dad own a place in Hawaii. I enjoy being active and playing any kind of competitive sport. Especially with a good group of friends. I love all types of music. Whenever I have some spare time, I spend it on the piano. For some odd reason, I love to mow grass. It soothes the soul. I am currently serving a mission in the Tennessee Knoxville mission and I love every second of it!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have gone through some rough patches in my life but through it all I have come to a greater knowledge of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My parents always taught me the basic principles of the Gospel and how to live them. And for the most part, I tried my hardest to live them. I found great happiness in obeying the commandments of our loving Heavenly Father. But, there was a point in my life where I couldn't rely on the testimony of my parents and had to find out for myself if The Church is true. I never doubted that it wasn't but I also never really KNEW if it was. I did as the leaders of The Church directed and what I now invite others to do. That is, to ask God if The Church is true. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints is the Lord's Kingdom on the Earth. I find strength from the Book of Mormon and the Bible everyday of my life. Knowing that God is my Heavenly Father and that he has a plan for me has given me hope for better things to come. I love the Gospel so much. It is a part of my life.

How I live my faith

Growing up, I participated in all the youth activities that The Church provided. These progams provided me with a good group of friends that had the same values and morals as me. It is because of this group of friends that I am who I am today. I was also active in visiting some of the members of our congregation and helping them with anything that they stood in need of. I am currently a missionary serving in the Tennessee Knoxville mission. I love to share the gospel with others and help them find the truths that our Heavenly Father has given the the world. I wasn't always sure about serving a mission. The thought of leaving my home and family for 2 years frightened me. It was a big desicion. When I was about 2 I was diagnosed with Leukemia. I went through chemotherapy. I remember, even though I was young, being scared to die. I have memories of certain moments that really scared me. The cancer went into remission when I was 7 years old. I remember, at the age of 14, I wanted to know why I survived. I had heard of other kids dying from the same thing that I survived. Why was I one of the lucky ones who lived? I prayed and asked God why. I recieved an answer. A feeling telling me that I needed to serve a mission. That there were people that were searching for hope in this life that only I could give to them. I know that prayer is a direct communication with God. He is a loving Heavenly Father and wants to help us in our daily lives. I know that there is a true and living prophet on the earth today. I know that The Book of Mormon is holy scripture. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true Church. I couldn't be more sure of it.
