Hi I'm Joel

I grew Up in Layton, Utah. I'm currently serving a mission in Boston, you'll never meet an Elder like me, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey everybody, I'm Joel and I'm currently serving as a missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. I love to play all kinds of sports, baseball, basketball, soccer, football, lacrosse, just about anything. I probably wasn't very good at them but I still loved to improve. Recently I've started to improve a lot at basketball which is a plus, seeing as how I used to not be able to make a free throw. I like to think that I'm semi-decent at wake boarding and snowboarding, but there is always room to improve. I guess I'm just like any other kid. I love being with my friends and doing the crazy things that kids do. I love my family, and I am excited to see them at the end of my two years of missionary service here in the Boston Massachusetts Mission. I've never realized how much they meant to me until they weren't around me all the time. I've noticed more and more that the little things they used to do that would make me agitated are now things that I miss the most. I feel like my family is an enormous blessing from my father in heaven.

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky enough to be born into a family that are all active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was baptized at eight years old when I was given the choice to do so. The reason that I truly am a Mormon is not because I was born into the church however, but because I prayed to know for myself that the book of Mormon is true and that the teachings inside of it are truly the word of God. I got an answer for myself, and I know that the book of Mormon is true and it is another testimony of how much god cares for each one of his children on earth. As I've worked to live in a way that is acceptable to God I've realized that I am happier all around. I can feel a growth in myself and I am able to attribute that with living the commandments that God has set for all of us. I've known people who aren't willing to live the word of God and they feel as though something is missing, an emptiness that only the gospel can fill. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I am happy in it, and it is the only true church on the earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying everyday to do what is right and become closer to Christ. Like I said I'm serving as a missionary, which is what the prophet has asked every able 19 year old young man to do. I feel that by following the council of the prophet I grow closer to Christ and live my faith daily. As a missionary I am asked to invited everyone else to come unto Christ as well. As I've been doing this I can feel myself come closer to my savior. I know that if we will try and live the way that Jesus Christ lived, acting in a selfless way and serving the people around us, that we can feel a greater peace and happiness than we have ever felt in our lives at any other time.
