Hi I'm Blake

I served a church mission in Calgary Canada. I am a Massage Therapist and love helping others. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I find joy in serving others and making people happy. I am a busy Husband and Father of three wonderful boys! (no girls yet...) I am a college student currently studying Biology. My plan is to go into Chiropractic studies. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist and a Certified Nursing Assistant. I find great joy in working with the elderly and feel empowered when I take care of other's needs. I graduated High school from Ben Lomond High in Ogden, Utah. I am an Eagle Scout and am a scout leader for our congregation's youth group. I love the outdoors and enjoy fly fishing. I also have a love for reading and writing and enjoy the occasional artist in me. I also enjoy participating in Tai Chi and Yoga from time to time. I feel very blessed to have a wonderful family and to be a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have come to know through the Spirit of God that this is the true church. It has blessed my life tremendously. I served a Mission in Calgary Canada and loved every minute of it. I grew up in the church, but never really knew whether it was right and true. I finally studied the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it was all true. I did not want to doubt or lean on my parent's faith anymore. When I prayed I felt in my heart that it was true. I felt a strong Spirit flood my body as I decided to serve a mission and help others feel happy as they learned about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I felt the love that God has for me overflow my emotions and I knew for the first time that this was the true church of Christ on the earth. I knew that the Holy Spirit had witnessed to me that these things were true and I could not deny it. I was married and sealed to my beautiful wife on June 3, 2011 in the house of the Lord- the Temple. I testify will solid faith that the Temple is the ONLY place on earth where one can feel the presence of the Lord. It truly is a Heaven on Earth. I know that families can be together forever, even after this life, as they are sealed in Holy Temples by the authority of the Priesthood. I was blessed beyond measure that day as I was sealed and married to my dear wife. The Spirit was there and I could not deny that what we had experienced in the Temple that day was right and true. It was a blessed day and one that I will never forget. I know that as we live in obedience to the Lord's commandments we will be blessed beyond measure. My joy is full and yours can be too if you will live the Lord's commandments and enjoy the blessings He provides. Test the Lord and see if He will show you the truth. Just ask God and you will know that this is His Church and that He loves you. I know this to be true and testify of it in the name of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I am a Home teacher in my local congregation. A home teacher goes and teaches other families in the congregation and cares for them and makes sure that they are all doing well. I love to teach families and feel the Spirit together. Before I was married I was a Membership/financial Clerk in a congregation of young single adults ages 18-30. A ward clerk is in charge of the finances of the congregation and the membership records in the local area. I had to make sure that all the membership records were up to date and that those members who moved in or out where in the appropriate places. I also had the priveledge of helping the Bishop see that the tithing money was taken care of and treated with sacredness. I also got to deal with taxes and audits during the tax season. It was a blessing to be a clerk and learn when I was younger to keep things organized for the Lord and his members. I still love to serve and enjoy participating in callings and service. I am currently in the Young Men's Presidency in our local congregation. This means I am a leader for our youth group, particularly for the boys ages 12-18. It is a great experience being able to teach them each Sunday, work on scouting requirements and enjoy summer campouts with them. On occasion, my wife and I have been asked to give talks or speech's during our sacrament meeting for our local congregation to listen to. I strive to represent the Lord in all I do. I love the Gospel of Christ and I love living it. Obeying the Commandments and living the Lord's law helps me develop my faith and trust in Him. I feel so much joy and blessings come as I live my faith.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Blake
When my family and I attend church on Sunday we all dress up. It can be a difficult morning getting our three small boys dressed for church, but we know that Sunday services are a special time for our family. During the week, we are all so busy with our everyday activities, work, and school, so Sunday is a wonderful time for us to be together and worship the Lord. We get dressed up because it shows respect and helps us act reverent. We don't wear anything unusual, we just wear our "Sunday best." You can always come to our church services and if you don't feel comfortable dressing up its just fine. Come and worship with us anyway. We love to have visitors of all kinds! A big custom in our church on Sunday that you may notice is hand shakes. Everyone loves to shake each others hand to say hello and be a friend. My family and I have been asked if we celebrate holidays and the answer is YES! We love Christmas and Easter and we love to dress our kids up for Halloween. We celebrate Birthdays and anniversaries and my wife loves to wear green and cook green food all day on St. Patrick's Day. Christmas is special and spiritual for us as we celebrate and remember the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
