Hi I'm Marian

I grew up in Salt Lake City, served a mission in France, was Miss Utah & sang in the Tabernacle Choir. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have 10 children with the man I married 53 years ago, and now we have 41 amazing grandchildren. Music has been a great part of our lives. I enjoyed singing in the Tabernacle Choir for 20 years, thirteen of those years with my husband. One of our memorable experiences was singing, "Motown Mormon music" my definition, with Gladys Knight in the Saints Unified Voice Choir, along with two of our daughters. I learned from my widowed mother I could accomplish anything in life I wanted, if I would PERSIST in doing whatever good thing I chose to do, not that the nature of the thing would change, but that my ability to do would increase. Through persistence I have overcome a poor self image, developed talents I didn't know were mine and by reaching outside of myself, by helping others to succeed, by looking for the good in everyone I have learned to love life and all that the Lord has provided for me. Without the Lord I am nothing, with Him all things are possible!

Why I am a Mormon

Though I was born in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, until I applied myself to gospel study, and gained my own testimony of it's truth, I didn't have the understanding of Heavenly Father's Plan of Happiness for me. Being a member of the Lord's Church throughout my life has been my greatest gift from a loving Father in Heaven. The gospel of Jesus Christ has shaped every important decision made by me. It has given understanding and purpose to my life. I wake up every day with a heart full of gratitude that I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have found it is never a sacrifice to serve in the Lord's true church, I received more than I gave in teaching in the different organizations of the church. There is a saying in the church which I believe to be true, " The Lord does not ask us about our ability, but only about our availability. And then if we demonstrate our dependability, the Lord will increase our capability." I have grown in capacity and leadership serving in the work of the Lord and in our community My husband, and I were able to serve a mission for the Lord for twenty months after the children were out of the home and on their own. Without the gospel to direct us and with the Lord in our partnership, I don't believe we could have succeeded in accomplishing all that was required. The gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth in 1820, I know this is the truth. The Lord's church is upon the earth today with Prophets and Apostles directing His work. This is the greatest blessing for all of mankind to enjoy. It will bring untold happiness to all who embrace it.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Home is where children learn about themselves. When taught the gospel in their youth, they will remember all their lives that their mother and father knew it was true. Bringing children into the world is a lifetime commitment, one that will challenge the best in us and at times the worst. Love and forgiveness are important principles to teach our children. Because Families are eternal, the greatest works of any are accomplished within our own homes. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

My husband is a retired physician who spent the majority of his career teaching people how to get well and stay that way. We have 10 children who were taught to live by the Word of Wisdom, which to us means eating some of the foods that the Lord put on the earth for us in their unchanged, original state every day. In other words as much raw fruits and vegetables, grains, seeds, and nuts, etc., as we are able to do so. There are over 8000 foods available to mankind, that give health to the navel and marrow to the bones. Over processed foods have harmful additives that impair good health. It is wise to find a balance, to not be extreme in our habits, but to follow the Lords recommendations for good health prescribed in the Word of Wisdom. To have good health leads to a happier life where the Spirit of the Lord can dwell more abundantly. We believe our bodies are temples to God, it is our duty to do all we can to keep our temples clean, which includes body and mind. Show more Show less
