Hi I'm Sue

I am Canadian, I love to play guitar and sing, I'm working on becoming a nurse, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

A little bit about me: I am 25 years old and I am currently in my last semester of nursing. I recently married the most amazing man I have ever met, and am still a bit in shock at how happy life can be! I am very much into music, both listening and attempting to play. The guitar is one of my favourite things ever invented, and I'm a sucker for anything acoustic (and by the way, my husband is a prodigy with the guitar... absolutely amazing!) My beliefs are not just a small part of me... they shape everything I do. I am so grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ! I love my family more than I could ever express, and I love life!

Why I am a Mormon

My Dad discovered and joined the LDS church when he was 18 years old, and met my mother who had been raised in the Church. I am so grateful for my Dad's decision those many years ago, and for both my parents teaching me the Gospel of Jesus Christ. However, there always comes a time when we have to question what we've been taught to believe, and decide what we truly believe for ourselves. This happened to me in my teenage years. I had been taught that every person needed to gain a witness of truth from God for themselves, that we were not required to only rely or lean on the opinions and testimonies of others. I have always loved the scripture passage in the New Testament that says "Ask and ye shall recieve, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you." (Matthew 7:7), and James 1:5 also influenced me: "If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering." I started on my quest to find out if the things that I had been taught about Jesus Christ and His Gospel were true. I wanted to know if the Book of Mormon was truly the word of God, a companion to the Bible. I remember praying about this many times, and for me, I didn't recieve an overwhelming answer from my Heavenly Father all at once... but He did answer and assure me little by little. I felt peace and warmth and goodness and joy when I read the Book of Mormon and listened to the leaders of the Church. I felt that same joy and love and peace when I prayed to know if these things were true, and eventually, Father in Heaven gave me feelings of overwhelming assurance that I cannot describe, until I knew that this Church was true, and where God wanted me to be. I know that Jesus Christ lives! The Book of Mormon is from God, and He leads and directs this Church. I want to invite all to find out too by studying and praying about it.... ask, seek, and knock! He will answer you!

How I live my faith

I am so grateful for my membership in the church, as it keeps me busy serving and learning, the two things that make me the happiest! I have had so many different assignments, from music director to "shepherd" (responsible for seeking out members that are less active in the church and trying to help them where I can), to primary teacher, to full-time missionary for 18 months (I served my mission in upstate New York), and many others. I just moved into a new congregation and I'm waiting to hear what my next assignment will be! I'm excited to have a calling! I try to live my faith in every aspect of my life, not just when I'm at church or serving as an official missionary of the church. I pray every day personally and with my husband, and we read together from the scriptures every evening. We know that families are part of God's plan and try to make our families a priority. We are not perfect but look for ways to serve and help where we can.
