Hi I'm Melony

And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm just your average girl - the shop-till-you-drop kind. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband and we've been married for almost 4 years now. I work in the dental field now after having been to college for a degree in Communication Disorders. While we don't have any children, I have "my kids" that I've worked with in the Primary organization in the church. I love teaching them, but also getting taught by them. Some of the things I like to do are be with my hubby, listen to music, read, and try new things and strengthen interests I have, like sewing and cooking.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My family life has been wonderful and still continues to be that way. I love that the gospel centers on the family and on strengthening family relationships. We're taught that we're son's and daughters of Heavenly Father who loves us, knows us personally and wants the best for us. Having strong family relationships allows us to see (on a smaller scale) the love that our Heavenly Father has for us. I had an opportunity to share the gospel as I served as a missionary in the Oklahoma City mission. What a wonderful opportunity to meet with, become friends with, and share the gospel to those of other faiths. It was like sharing the gospel with my family - we're all sons and daughters of God. I know that this gospel is true and that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior of the world and that He lives! I know that we can be families for eternity through the ordinances that are performed in sacred temples. I know that our Heavenly Father wants us all to return to Him. Having the gospel has allowed me to have a better perspective on life. Life can be hard. It is hard! But when we know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have our backs, then we're able to bear what is placed in our paths and carry on with faith.

How I live my faith

Within the local congregation I attend, I teach in the Primary, which is the organization for the children. I teach a bouncing and energetic class of 6 year olds - six boys and two girls! I've also had other responsibilities like being in charge of renting out supplies to the teachers and classes, hymn book care among other things. While those are my responsibilities within the church, within my family and with my friends we strive to be examples of the Savior and strengthen each other and our relationships.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Absolutely we've always had the Bible. And thank goodness for inspired people who made it available to the world. But Christ's church was not on the earth after the apostles died and/or were killed. They had been given the Priesthood, or the authority to act in Christ's name, and with their deaths, the Priesthood was no longer on the earth and Christ's church was no longer as it had been established. Church teachings were changed and many truths were lost. With the Restoration, the Priesthood was restored and the same structure that Christ had established was again reorganized. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the same church that Jesus Christ Himself established, just in our day. Show more Show less
