Hi I'm Jill

I'm a California girl who loves to read, sing, laugh, and study Criminal Justice, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My favorite thing to do is cook delicious foods and bake amazing desserts that I can share with my friends and family. I love to make people happy. I especially love sharing good music with people through participating in choirs, and I always sing soprano. I love the sound of beautiful, well-balanced and harmonized music with good dynamics. I love reading all types of great books whether it's mystery, fantasy, fiction, nonfiction, science fiction, or an autobiography. I just love to learn. My greatest passion of all is in the criminal justice world, especially in the fields of investigation and forensic science. I have already begun studying in college how to bring closure and justice to people who have had their loved ones taken from them. More than anything, I love to bring people peace, happiness, and hope.

Why I am a Mormon

As a peacemaker, I have found the greatest fulfillment and satisfaction in my life through following the example of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He taught me how to make people happy through serving and loving them and especially through sharing His Gospel. I know that, by living the teachings of Jesus Christ and following the counsel of His chosen church leaders from the scriptures and those on earth today, I will find the true happiness that my Heavenly Father wants me to have. I am a Mormon because, after reading the Book of Mormon and asking God if it is true, I know that it is true because I felt His Spirit through powerful warm feelings in my heart and an understanding that filled my mind. With that knowledge, I also know that Joseph Smith, who translated the ancient record of the Book of Mormon was a true Prophet of God. If he wasn't, then the book wouldn't be true, but I have felt with a powerful assurance that it is true. With that knowledge, I also know that the church he claimed that Jesus Christ himself told him to restore is in fact our Lord's church. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the same church that Jesus Christ orgainized in ancient times. Though it was lost after Christ's death, it has been brought back in its fullness. I am happy when I live the teachings found in Jesus Christ's church.

How I live my faith

I have a special opportunity to be a representative of Heavenly Father by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through my missionary service. I am currently serving an 18-month mission for the Church in northwest Washington. I have fully dedicated myself to serving God through daily study of the scriptures and by going out and finding people who I can teach about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have also served in other capacities before this. I once taught a one-hour class to a group of women once a month for two years about the teachings of the Prophet, Joseph Smith. After that, I taught a class about the teachings of Jesus for an hour each sunday to a group of 5-year-olds. That lasted for 6 months. I also spent time every month for three years going and visiting different women from church in their homes to strengthen them through an uplifting message and offering relief from their burdens and trials. I've also had opportunities to spend a few hours at a time volunteering at a warehouse that provides welfare to the poor and at a thrift store that collects donated items to provide for the needs and wants of those who have little or no money. All of these opportunities have greatly blessed my life. I have discovered that true happiness comes as you help others.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

We know Jesus Christ to be the only begotten Son of God. He was chosen by God in the beginning, before the world was even created, to be the savior of all mankind. Jesus Christ came down to the earth to live in the flesh so He could experience all of the physical, mental, and emotional difficulties we each face on a daily basis. When He went into the Garden of Gethsemane at the end of his 3-year ministry, He began the Atonement. While in the Garden, He felt all of the pains that every individual has felt or will feel in their lives. He felt the suffering that comes from sin, sickness, temptation, and every emotional and physical pain. He completed the Atonement with His death on the cross. He did this so that each person who ever lives can have the hope of returning to live with God in Heaven after they die if they choose to follow Jesus Christ. I am so grateful to know that, no matter what I go through in my life, Jesus Christ knows exactly how I feel, and most importantly, He knows exactly how to help me find relief. Only He can offer that because of the sacrifice He made. I know that, if I follow him by having faith in Him, repenting, receiving baptism and confirmation by someone with the authority of God, and enduring to the end, I can receive the gift of eternal life by the grace of God because of Jesus Christ.
