Hi I'm Kim

I treasure my family and friends and many other things but my testimony of Jesus Christ is my greatest possession. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in San Francisco, CA before my family settled in Washington state. Growing up LDS I knew we did things differently; we didn't watch certain movies, my parents didn't drink, we kept the Sabbath Day holy...I always felt, though, that whether or not people shared our beliefs, they respected us for them. And I found safety in Gospel living. I later attended Brigham Young University and had the time of my life there! Being surrounded by so many who shared my beliefs inspired me to serve an LDS mission to Boston, MA, Spanish speaking and to later marry my husband in the Salt Lake Temple and raise our family. When I look back on my life I see how the Gospel has brought me my greatest joys in life and helped me though my greatest hardships. When I look forward I feel hopeful and peaceful, knowing that Heavenly Father has a wonderful plan for me. While I'm busy being a wife, raising 4 kids, working at their school, managing our home, doing photography on the side and trying to balance everything else in my life, I'm trying to find that plan and live it the best I can.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I was born into a Mormon family and raised Mormon, I always wanted to learn about other faiths so I could find things to relate to in others. This also had another effect on me; I came to know that no other religion is as consistent or makes greater claims than that of the LDS Church. While there are similarities between many religions, I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is not only found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but it is lived by its members. I am so grateful for my Heavenly Father, who sent His son to lead and guide us and do so many other things for us so that we could obtain the great blessings He has for us.

How I live my faith

I try to live the values I grew up with and improve upon them by attending weekly Church meetings and fulfilling church callings. I also attend the temple as much as possible and fellowship others as much as I can. Doing this has blessed me spiritually but has also provided me so many amazing experiences; meeting amazing people, teaching children, working in the Cub Scout program, improving my musical "skills," developing leadership and public speaking skills, taught me how to problem solve and become more charitable, the list goes on. Being a part of this great Church enriches my life in every way and while we are not perfect, we are all trying to become perfect. Following our Savior, we'll get there someday!

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Kim
Because what we do physically also affects us spiritually, we know that it is important that we value our physical well being. The Word of Wisdom is indeed wise. It teaches us that when we take care of our physical bodies we show our gratitude for God and what He has given us. It helps us know how to avoid addicting behaviors so we can maintain our free agency. Which makes it easier to focus on our spiritual bodies. Which gives us a greater ability to work and serve He whom hath created us, which brings us closer to all the blessings He has for us. Show more Show less
