Hi I'm Susan

I love music and my family and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always enjoyed music! I love to sing and share my talent with others. I enjoy Broadway, classical , pop , jazz , indie, and new age music. Playing the piano and singing are very therapeutic for me. I find the world is a better place when I approach it through music. I also love to read. I belong to a book club made up of women from mid 30''s to late 70's. I learn so much from those who have experienced more of life! I am taught in many ways each month. I find that each time I read a book I would have passed over I get new insight into the mind and hearts of those long since past or just barely beginning their life's journey. I find most of my time is spent with my family. I really enjoy the fulfillment that comes from being part of a family. My husband is a great man who is devoted to me and loves our children. My children have taught me so much! One of my favorite quotes is " While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about." Angela Schwindt. I have also become a grandmother. I find exasperating joy in them! They are so full of energy and see the world so fresh and new. I like to view it through their eyes and smile and remember younger years. I also enjoy substitute teaching when I can. I love to see young minds at work. The smile of success with a task completed is very rewarding to me. I enjoy helping volunteer at my children's schools. It gives me a sense of being needed. I am grateful for the life I have been given.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who belonged to the LDS church. I lived in Asia and Guam and different places in the United States. I think it was really living in different areas that showed me the truth of the gospel. I could see the fruits of righteous living wherever I lived. I also could see the effects of choosing a path contrary to the Lord's will all around me. I found a conviction to cleave unto righteousness through all the uphills and downturns in my life. I find that the one sure thing I can always count on in life is the Savior and his unconditional love and sacrifice for me. I know of a surety that I am a daughter of God, made in his image. I can learn in this life how to become like him. I can be with him again. I have obtained great peace by knowing this. That I can be an instrument for good. I can make a difference in someone else's life. I can be with my family always. This is why I belong. I know in my heart it is the true church. I am grateful for this knowledge.

How I live my faith

I teach an adult religion class during Sunday School . I am teaching from the Bible. In the New Testament we are learning of Paul and his missionary efforts to teach the gentiles the gospel. I am strengthened by Paul's words, For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life ,nor angel , nor principalities, nor powers nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.Romans 8:38-39 I love the scriptures and I am grateful that I can learn and teach others the truths found within them. I study daily from the scriptures and from messages the prophets have given in modern day revelation. I take time each week to teach our children with my husband the truths contained in the scriptures. We also enjoy watching our children play sports and playing games together as a family. My husband and I take time out often to go on a date and have time for us. As I make the time to be with those I love most, the pressures and trials of life seem easier to bear. The Lord does lift our burdens as we help to lift one another. I also have a calling in my church where I have three women in my ward I visit with each month. It gives me an opportunity to be a friend and they know if they need help that I am there for them. It makes me feel needed and I learn so much from others. Most important, I learn that I am not alone. My life is more complete because of this. We also have a fun party for our neighborhood in the fall. I love getting to know new people and spending time just visiting with our friends. I love the scripture in Romans 1:16 For i am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth ; I am definitely grateful for the gospel and for the peace I feel because I know why I am here and where I will go after I leave this earth.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Susan
The Bible is a witness of Jesus Christ , his teachings and his works among the children of men.The prophets in the Old Testament all testify of the coming of the Savior Jesus Christ. All that happened points toward the further light and higher law that the Savior would teach. We believe the Book of Mormon to be an additional book of scripture, adding to the testimony of Jesus Christ that the bible give. Show more Show less
