Hi I'm Devon.

I'm a creative writer who lived on Oahu for 7 months at age 18. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 20 years old pursuing my undergrad in English Literature. I attended BYU-Hawaii for my freshman year of college, living on Oahu, Hawaii for 7 months, but I'm back home with my family for now. My current hobbies include: watercolor painting, oil painting, baking (mainly eating) desserts, and hanging out with nephew. I work as a certified habilitation and respite provider for my favorite (and only) brother with special needs.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the LDS church, and for most of my life, that's why I was a Mormon. It wasn't until I lived on my own, that I realized I truly had to decide for myself: do I actually believe in this gospel, or do I believe in maintaining an expectation? As I began to pray with Heavenly Father, I was blessed with many opportunities to serve others and feel of God's love for me. The decision to serve a mission was not an easy decision for me; I felt that I didn't want to because I had other life plans, particularly with education. However, through earnestly studying the Book of Mormon daily, I have come to understand the nature of Heavenly Father and His unconditional love for me, and for everyone. For you. He sent His only perfect Son, Jesus Christ, to come to earth to be our teacher, example, and Savior. Jesus Christ suffered all things--all feelings, whether grief or joy, all of our experiences, and ultimately death. But He also lived, and still lives! He overcame death and was resurrected, which broke the bands of death for all people that have been and will ever be upon the earth. Because He suffered all things, He provided the only way that we can be cleansed and enter again into God's presence. I am a Mormon because I know of the love that God has for me, for you, for every single person, ever. I am a Mormon because I know that I can be forgiven of all my shortcomings. I am a Mormon because of my Savior Jesus Christ, who provided a way for eternal life with those I love. I am a Mormon because this is Christ's church, restored again.

How I live my faith

I love to share my beliefs with others over social media, especially through sharing art that reflects Jesus Christ. Being able to develop my talents includes sharing it with others, and I want everything I do to help bring others unto a knowledge of Christ--which brings me to my next point. Remember that undergrad I'm pursuing? I'm putting that on hold (along with a lot of other things) for 18 months so I can share my belief in Jesus Christ as my Savior as a full-time missionary, serving and teaching others around me.
