Hi I'm Rachel!

I am a college student. I love dancing, laughing, learning, and people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to make the most of life. I am currently a college student and I absolutely love it! maybe not the homework so much but the learning new things and meeting so many different people. While at college I have found a love for language and the role it plays in our life and interactions with others. This new found passion has become the focus of my studies coupled with dance. Dance has always been a part of my life since I was 3 and I have been blessed to continue feeding my passion for it in college. I began with a strong core in Ballet that was salted and peppered with other various dance styles; but I got to widen my dance experience with ballroom, once I entered college. I have worked my way through the lower teams and I am determined to make it to the top preforming team before I leave college. I have never been the very best at anything but I have found success in all areas of my life as I have worked hard to do my best. Though I love school and dance dearly, my family and my relationships with other people are the most important thing to me. I have a mom, dad, 5 brothers and 1 sister. My sister is my best friend! Time has added in-laws and nieces and nephews to my family' and my love for it just increases as it grows. I grew up a natural worrier but as I have gained a trust in God and exercised faith in Him my worries and fears have slipped away, and I have found the strength to face my fears. I know that I can do all things in God. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints( Mormons) and baptized when I was 8 years old but that is not why I am a member. I am a member because I have gained a witness for myself, that this is the true church of God; and also because living this gospel makes me happy! The principles taught bring peace, hope, and joy in this life. It doesn't save you from pain or trials but it teaches that we do not have to face those things alone. Christ suffered all things for us and he knows exactly what we go through. He loves us each individually. I know this is true because I have felt his love; I know that he knows me personally and wants me, and every person, to experience joy in this life. We experience trials because that is how we grow. If we exercise even just an ounce of faith and turn to Christ he will strengthen and comfort us. I also know that I can be with my family forever! I know that this life is just a sliver of time in our eternal existence. I know that each person has the potential to become like God and receive eternal happiness. I also know that there is hope for everyone! no matter what we have done in this life, because of the sacrifice of Christ and his Atonement, we can all be saved from the punishment of our sins and be cleansed through his blood. We can be made whole and clean, and receive eternal exaltation and joy. Because I'm a Mormon, I know who I am, where I came from, and where I am going. I know that I have eternal purpose in life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing all I can to keep the commandments of God and to keep the covenants I have made with Him. I am honest in my dealings with others and I work hard to embody integrity in all I do. I try to serve and love those around me and to help them feel of Christ's love for them. I spend time in the scriptures every day so that I may learn more of God and feel closer to him each day. I strive to be a testimony to others of God and his love for them through example and loving kindness. As my knowledge of God and his gospel has grown I have decided to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been called to serve in the Hungary Budapest Mission, and I embark on this marvelous and humbling adventure December 12, 2012. I have decided to do this because I want others to learn and feel of Christ's love for them and so they can find the same peace and hope that I have found in this life. The Lord has given me so much I want nothing more that to serve him the best that I can. And so I am dedicating 18 months of my life to his service. I am so excited!
