Hi I'm Larry

I grew up in a small town in southern AZ. I'm a computer engineering student who loves to play basketball and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up in a small town was such a blast. There isn't a whole lot to do in places like that unless you make your own fun, and we always did. I was always blessed with wonderful friends. We helped and supported each other in our standards, beliefs and activities. I now live in the city and go to college. I have different friends now but we still support each other and I love spending time with them. I'm studying to be a computer engineer and I love what I'm doing. I played every sport I could growing up and it taught me a lot of important things like working with other people and the value of dedication. I still play basketball every opportunity that I get and I love it. It keeps me in shape and helps round out my life. I believe there is something good about life and the people in it and that makes my outlook on things much brighter than I think it would otherwise be.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up, my mother was a very active member of the church but my father was not. However, he is a very good and honest man and I can speak no higher of anyone. Because of my situation though, I feel like I could have easily chosen to follow either one once I became old enough to decide for myself. My knowledge of and belief in Jesus Christ is independent of them or anyone else. Through prayer, study of the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and living what they teach, I have come to know, not just on a bit of a hunch, but with all my heart that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. I have also come to know that Joseph Smith was a prophet. I know the Book of Mormon, like the Bible, is true and brings us closer to God. I love sharing these with people as much as I can, without being eccentric, because it means the world to me. I try not to force in onto other people or push it onto others in any way. I simply love living the teachings and standards that we embrace.

How I live my faith

I have attended many different congregations of Mormons in my lifetime and I have loved them all. I've always been asked to be involved with groups of people my age in one way or another. I've helped make visits to the other members of the congregation, those that come often and those that don't. It doesn't matter to us, we just want people to feel included and loved. I've helped organize activities and events for people my own age since I was 12 to this day and I've always loved it. Serving in the church isn't a burden or obligatory and giving my time to it is never a liability to everything else going on in my life. It has brought me more growth and happiness than anything and I am very grateful for it.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

I have a very strong belief in God and in the relationship we can have with Him. If you will just ask Him if He is there, He will answer you. It might not be right away, or in the way you want, but He will let you know. The reason I know that he will answer you is because He answered me. I asked to know if He was there, I asked to know if He really cared about me, I asked if what I was being taught at church was true. I always received an answer, and they were always very strong answers, not just fleeting emotions I could write off as an answer. I don't always get "yes" as an answer to my questions, but I did to these ones. Show more Show less
