Hi I'm Shawna

I'm a wife, a stay-at-home mother of 5 boys, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to a loving and helpful husband. I'm a college graduate who worked various jobs during and after college, but when our first child was born, I chose to stay at home with our children. We now have 5 boys. After growing up in a family with 4 sisters, I am constantly learning new things and always cleaning! When I'm not doing laundry, cleaning, or cooking; I can usually be found in the family van on the way to soccer practice, piano lessons, Scouts, or church activities. I am not overly fond of making crafts, cooking, or watching TV. But I do enjoy singing in choirs, girl's night out, and traveling. I love to read, but usually only make time for it after everyone is in bed. I'm always starting a new exercise program, but only out of desperation as opposed to actually liking it. My husband and I are the world's slowest remodelers, but while our old 1970's house might not currently have the up-dated look that I'd like, it is filled with lots of laughter and love.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon by good and faithful parents. I do not recall a particular moment where I suddenly knew that what I had been taught all my life was true, but I can remember feeling the Holy Spirit many times throughout my childhood and teenage years. I always knew that I was a child of God and that Jesus loved me. In high school I had some acquaintances who questioned by beliefs, and because of their doubts, I found myself searching the scriptures and praying more sincerely than I ever had before. There was never any visions or flashes of light, but consistently throughout this period of time I felt the Lord reminding me again and again that I already knew the gospel was true. Now that I am older, I have seen and experienced how the gospel of Jesus Christ can change lives. I have witnessed the joy and light that come into a person's life when they accept Jesus and his teachings and follow him. I have seen many blessings because of my willingness to be obedient.

How I live my faith

Everyday I have the opportunity to live my faith by praying to my Heavenly Father, who hears and answers me. I try to find time every day to study the scriptures and have felt the Holy Ghost teaching me as I read them. I also live my faith by attending church and have served in various positions there, from teaching the youth to directing a choir to serving the women of the church. I try to be honest in all my doings and to always be kind to those around me, especially my husband and children. Although I'm not perfect, I live my faith by trying to be the person God wants me to be.
