Hi I'm Gorie Williams Jr.

I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. I was baptized on 7/7/07. I am a first generation Mormon.

About Me

My favorite sports are football and golf. I have a Master's degree in Business Administration and Healthcare Administration. I am married with six beautiful children. Three boys and three girls.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church because I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel. It was through prayer and scripture study, that I gained my testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ and that the fullness of the Gospel had been restored in these latter-days. The recent passing of my mother (who is not a member), has made me appreciate more the importance of Temple work and the Plan of Salvation. Growing up in the Baptist faith, I didn't fully understand what happened after someone died. Now, I know that families can be together forever. I am grateful to be sealed to my wife and children for time and all eternity and look forward to being reuinted with the rest of my family. I continue to follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ because of the love that He has for each of us and the charity that He shows. Christ was a true example of how to love and give service to others. I love that I am a member of a church that is service oriented.

How I live my faith

I was recently called to serve as an advisor to the young men in our church between the ages of 14-15. I attend weekly activities designed to be postive and uplifting for the youth. Along with that calling, I also serve as a Varsity Assistant Coach in the Boy Scouts of America. Not growing up in the church, I never participated in Scouts and didn't know much about the program. I was unsure as to how I would be able to contribute, but now I realize that it is more than just me giving of my time, it is also helping me to learn things about myself and about life in general. I am also assigned to visit and watch over two families in my community. I and a companion, visit these families at least once a month to give a spiritual message and to check on the well-being of the family.
