Hi I'm Dee

I'm a Salt Lake Mormon working in telecommunications.

About Me

I am a practicing Christian-LDS and I am married to a wonderful woman. We have 3 beautiful sons and many wonderful grandsons. Our last son to marry met his future wife in Salt Lake City. She grew up in the San Diego, California area. They were married 16 months ago and were expecting their first child the middle of October 2011. ----- Exciting update! On October, 24, 2011 VeAnn gave birth to a healthy, 8 pound, 21 inch boy. Birth is such a wonderful miracle and families should be a great support and blessing to each other. If American families will endorse and practice good moral values, their values will make our nation even greater. First I am interested in supporting our familiy in the trials they have. Some of my other interests are: Photography, hiking, tennis, history, and travel. I am interested in learning more about the wonderful world in which we live. I like well produced clean plays and movies and especially enoy many of the older classical movies. I prefer to communicate with others one on one rather than participate in large group discussions. I majored in behavioral science at a local university, because I was fascinated with that subject. I have a keen interest in the reason people behave the way they do. I love people, life, religion, and our great nation. Although we all have to triumph over the trials we face, I tend to be a very happy and satisfied person. I have learned to see the specific reasons of why we were born on this earth.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Christian and a Mormon because of what I have read and experienced. I have faith that God will direct me if I try to do what is right. My church makes so much sense to me. It helps me to put my knowledge in proper order so that I do the most essential things first. I know that when I serve others I feel that special Spirit from my Heavenly Father. I have had many sacred spiritual experiences and I recently served a church mission to Manchester England with my wife. We served in Stafford, England; Mid-Wales; and the Isle of Man. We also served an inner city mission in downtown Salt Lake which we also enjoyed very much. I have a deep abiding testimony of my faith and I am willing to share it with anyone who would be willing to listen to me.

How I live my faith

I am presently a branch clerk in the local unit of my Church. Our church keeps track of most all of its members and we try to fellowship and help those we can with their special needs. I also donate my time helping others who are interested in their family history. I work with other staff members showing interested people how to identify their deceased ancestors. Our church has "Family History Center's" all over the world. We schedule appointments at our "FHC" buildings where we have computers and other sources to assist them in locating their blood relatives. My assignment at the FHC is to help members of any religion become closer to their relatives and to learn more about them. I have also worked at a holy temple performing sacred ordinances in behalf of the dead. One such service we perform is baptizing by proxy for the deceased who may not have heard of Jesus Christ. I believe they are taught about him on the other side of the veil when they are ready to listen to authorized missionaries. I believe God knows each of us by name and that He is interested in helping us learn to become better individuals. Everyone has had unpleasant experience along with the good ones. We progress when we learn to appreciate the good in the world. When we strive to become better, Jesus will send His Spirit to help us become more like Him. I believe what Jesus taught in the scriptures is the plan of happiness which we can all test and know of its validity for ourselves. I know that we can truly be happier when we live God's Commandments. I love God with all of my heart.

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon tells of the resurrected Jesus Christ and His visit to His faithful followers in ancient America. After His visits to His disciples in the Old World, He descended out of heaven and appeared to His followers in ancient America. The Book of Mormon describes how, during His visit, Jesus Christ healed their sick, taught them His gospel, blessed their children, and called twelve disciples to organize His Church in the Americas (3 Nephi 11:18; 3 Nephi 12:1-2).
