Hi I'm Katie

I am a musician, a ballroom dancer, and a twin. I am 19 and the eldest sister of 5. I am a missionary, and I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am the eldest sister of five kids: four girls, one boy, and I and I am a twin. Both my parents are also members of the church. My father is a dentist, and my mother is a home-maker. I am passionate about music and ballroom dance, love to read and try many forms of arts and crafts; My brain thinks entirely in the arts, and sadly I struggle to understand all other categories be it science, English, or technology. I am currently serving a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Virginia, and find joy in spreading the gospel and the joyous message of our Saviour to those around me. While attending BYU I will be studying Family Life: Family Studies, with minors in Music and Ballroom.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and love it with all my heart. I know that if I follow and keep the commandments of my Heavenly Father (God), and the standards of the church that I can live a happy, healthy life. I will be receiving my patriarchal blessing in which I will receive guidance from my Father in Heaven meant just for me that will give me a guideline for my life and help me understand my purpose here on earth as well as my Heavenly Father's plan for. I have read the Book of Mormon with my family and am on my second time through it by myself. Each time I concentrate more on the messages and guidance that the stories in it give. I am also in my second year of seminary in which I am learning more about the Old Testament (last year was the Doctrine and Covenants). As I attend church on Sunday, mutual on Wednesday, seminary on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, read my scriptures say my prayers, and read books and look at art that depict not only gospel standards, but stories past, present and future (fiction or not) that help me understand my purpose in life and what trials I may go through and how to overcome them, I am filled with the spirit and feel peace within my heart knowing everything is alright and that I am doing well in His sight. I am one of the ward organists, and very month, I have the opportunity to accompany the ward. I am also on of the choir pianists. Each song that I play, whether to learn for accompanying purposes of for personal pleasure, I am filled with the spirit and overcome with, peace, joy , and can glimpse my Father in Heaven's love for me. I never want to lose the feeling I can get when I am doing what my Father in Heaven has planned for me and I want more than anything to return to Him. That is why I follow His plan and remain a member of the church.

How I live my faith

The way I live my faith is by being an example of the believers. I stand up for what I believe in and am not afraid to speak up about it when necessary. I strive to be "and example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12). Being a missionary, this is especially crucial. Striving to help all to come unto Christ through faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the holy ghost, and helping them learn how to endure to the end, it helps when I am striving to do all those things myself. It is not easy to be a Christian in a world that is leaning farther from Christ, but I would not have it any other way. What joy and blessings come from obeying God's will. Striving to have a personal relationship with him and with my savior, I seek to serve those around me and to love all as they would and do, and work tirelessly to help bring all unto Christ. Missionary work is wonderful, and it is a wonderful way to fully immerse oneself in our faith, and to learn and grow and become more like Christ. As our perfect example, I seek to follow Him. No one is perfect, and I certainly am not, but I can still do my part to follow Him. Think of the blessings that He brings us. The chance to repent of any wrong, and mistake, the chance to know what we must do to return to God, our Heavenly Father, the chance to find the path that God has set out for us and become the best we can be, fulfill the potential He has for us. How else can we do that, if we do not turn to Christ, follow Him, and pray for guidance. The bible, the book of Mormon, and other scriptures can also guide us if we study and feast on them. I love the messages that can be found in the scriptures, and love to search them for answers. Oh how I love the gifts God has given me and all of us!
