Hi I'm Barbara

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in a suburb of New York City and was raised by wonderful parents.

About Me

Previous to being a wife and mother, I had been a fashion designer in New York City. Both have been a lot of work, but being a mother brings me more joy than I can ever put into words. I haven't been a perfect mom, but I've always tried to do my best and somehow my children are wonderful! Although I don't work in the garment district anymore, I find ways to use the skills and talents I learned in design school by designing things for family and friends. I enjoy reading, sewing, knitting, scrap booking and singing. When my children left home to pursue their education, I went to work in a local school helping at risk kids navigate through junior high. I retired this past May and my husband and I have been called to serve as ordinance workers in the Palmyra New York Temple.

Why I am a Mormon

I had a great job and really enjoyed living in New York City. Life was good, but there was something missing. I had several members of my family who joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who were very happy and didn't seem to have the "hole" in their lives that I did. After a lot of soul searching, I ended up at the Visitor's Center in Manhattan and met the missionaries. That changed my life. I now have a very full life. The Gospel of Jesus Christ fills me with joy every single day. I love my life and my beautiful family. The Lord has blessed me abundantly.

How I live my faith

Presently, I'm the Assistant Wolf Cub Scout Leader in my local congregation. We meet once a week with the 8 year old boys in our neighborhood to teach them basic skills and help prepare them to be responsible citizens in their community. Previously, I served a mission for the Church in Madrid, Spain. I loved serving the people there and sharing the love I have for the Lord Jesus Christ.
