Hi I'm Sheila Dawn

I'm a Mormon. I'm the mother of 7 wonderful children and the grandmother of 15 precious grandchildren who are the joy of my life.

About Me

My only claim to fame are 7 incredible children and 15 beautiful grandchildren with 2 more on the way. Ten years ago my husband died very suddenly of a heart attack and my life path changed in a heartbeat. My favorite things to do are read wonderful books of many genres and spend time with my family. I am the office manager for a mental health counselor and learn every day how diverse people are and yet all are children of a loving Heavenly Father.

Why I am a Mormon

I am so grateful to always have had the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life to guide and direct my life. I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ my Savior and Redeemer. I have been blessed throughout my life with guidance, peace and help in many times of crisis. I know my prayers have been answered and I have had so many experiences of feeling the tender mercies of the Lord. Especially when I lost my good husband, I know the only way I was able to feel the peace and comfort that came into my life was through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The Church has helped me raise my children to be good honest contributing adults, has given me a support group of unequaled value, has given me purpose in everything I do and a wonderful peace and joy under all circumstances. My faith becomes more important to me every day and I would love to help others find this great blessing in their lives.

How I live my faith

I teach a Sunday School lesson each Sunday to about 10 wonderful 15-16 year olds. I love to teach the Gospel and have taught many different groups in the church. I have taught teenagers for many years and find great joy in teaching them. I have also taught in the women's organization (Relief Society) and the little children as well. I have also held administrative positions in the Women"s Organization, Young Women"s Organization and the Children"s Organization. I also love visiting teaching. Visiting teaching is when we are assigned a few sisters for us to visit monthly, be their special support and watch over them and their family. I have found that in every congregation my best friends end up being those I visit, those that visit me and the lady that is assigned with me. It is wonderful to know there is always someone we can call on in times of need and they are always so willing to help in any way they can. It also brings much joy in serving others as well. I try to live my religion every hour of every day of my life. I am certainly not perfect but I am always striving to be better each day and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints helps me do that.
