Hi I'm Jody.

I have lived in the western United States my entire life, and I love the vistas and open spaces. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to watch the sunrise peaking its glimmer through clouds at the beginning of the day. It brings me solace and peace as I ponder the creations daily. I love to smell rain. I think sitting on a bench and watching people in a park is glorious day! I also love my job as a health assistant in a local elementary school that includes 6 self-contained classes of special needs students. I find serving others a very fulfilling day. I'm not in love with cooking, but I am in love with eating! I have 4 fabulous children who are doing their best to raise my 10 grandchildren! My husband is my very best friend! He tells me the truth and loves me anyway!

Why I am a Mormon

My conversion story isn't unique. My ancestors joined the church in its early beginnings and I come from pioneer stock, but as a child, I came to believe that it doesn't matter what my great grandfather did - it matters more how I live. I joined the church because I wanted to. I became converted because of spiritual witnesses I have received throughout my life. I didn't lean on my father's testimony, or Joseph Smith's, or the prophets who have led me through my life. I lean on the special witness times that God has allowed me to KNOW about truth. What I do not understand does not destroy what I do know. I know I have had special, sacred times where I have been taught spiritually. I have asked God to allow me to have a spiritual witness of truth and sometimes He has made me wait a long time. Sometimes, I wondered if it would ever come. But, when I continued to do what God would want me to, and didn't doubt, eventually I received my spirit witness. Sometimes, It was warm burning sensation that flooded my soul. Sometimes, it was an idea that came into my head. Sometimes, I wasn't even praying for an answer, but I received direction to my soul. Now, when I wonder about some points of Christ's life, or why things are done they way they are in the church - especially if I have prayed for enlightenment - I wait. And, then, I go forward in my life sure in the knowledge that God lives and He is aware of me. I KNOW He lives. I know He knows me. And, that knowledge and witness sustains me.

How I live my faith

I love to teach music to the young children in our ward. It lifts my spirit. I have also enjoyed very much working in the girls youth camp program. I also visit with people in our neighborhood each month to check to see if they are doing okay. The most important thing I do each day to live my faith is have my daily scripture time and prayer to God. I cherish that. I have learned so much by having my own relationship with God. I think it is the greatest blessing to have that knowledge. I try to be a good example of Christ's teachings to have love and compassion for everyone - not just people I already know. I love the peace that following the Savior brings to my life.
