Hi I'm Reggie Heywood

I was bron in Mesa, AZ in 1963. When I was 10 years old I set the world age group marathon record, running 2:57:57. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Reggie I was born with incredilble energy. My father and mother taught me how to use that energy to set and achieve goals at a young age. I grew up in a large family...and each one of us had responsibiities to help keep our home healthy and happy. I used my energy to help with the family paper route during my teenage years. Running up and down apartment steps to deliver papers each morning. I remember thinking it was unfair back then that I had to get up at 3am and earn money to help with the families expenses. By the age of 10 I ran my first marathon, from there I went on to break several world age group records in running. At 19 years old I served a two year mission in British Columbia Canada. It was hard to leave my family and friends but I would never trade those experiences during those years for anything! Now, I am a father of six children and a grandpa of three and those experienses have brought me the strength to do hard things. I have finished two Ironman Triathlons. I like to ride cruiser bikes and tandem ride with my wife and spend time with her. I love watching good movies with my family and dancing with my girls. I am a small business owner, and an optimist. I love people and I talk loud when I get excited about something I love.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a moromon boy. My parents did their very best to teach me correct principles that they felt would bring me happiness and then let me use my agency to make desicions. I love my parents and am grateful for their example and what they have taught me. My peace and happiness comes from living the principles of the gospel that I have been taught. I have a relationship with my Heavenly Father who loves me and He has given me the Gift of The Holy Ghost when I was baptized to help me know right from wrong. I love to read the scritures...I come to know by reading the scriptures you can recieve answers and strength to overcome your own trials. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and is a compainion to the wonderful Bible. All one has to do is read it prayerfully and they will know it for themselves. I know Heavenly Father has a plan for each one of us. He has given us The Church of Jesus Christ to help us while here on earth. I know we have a prophet today, Thomas S. Monson. I am excited about the Church of Jesus Christ and love to tell others what brings me so much joy and peace. I have had some hard things happen in my life...we all do. But I trust in God. He is there...He knows me and I will follow His lead.

How I live my faith

I try to start each day with prayer, personal and family prayer helps us get off to a good start. The days started with prayer are just better! As a husband and father I keep away from things that would harm this sacred trust. I am honest, true and clean. I love to be involved in the community, I have coached little leauge and basketball. I love to speak about my lifes experiences to youth...I love to tell them funny stories about when I was there age and share serious experiences as well that will help them see ahead. I serve with the Bishop of our conregation (or ward) my responsibilties range from teaching, helping with activities or conducting in church meetings. I love the time I spend in this service and enjoy the people I serve.
