Hi I'm Duane

I live in Arizona. I own and drive Packard automobiles. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 6 children and grandfather to 7 children and hopefully more grandkids. I own a 1955 Packard Clipper that I completely rebuilt and drive. I own a 1940 Packard 160 Sedan that I rebuilt the drive train and I drive it. The 1940 Packard was in 2 of my daughter's weddings, I have only owned the 40 Packard for 3 years. The 1955 Packard has been driven from Phoenix, AZ to the Grand Canyon, Tucson Az, Southern Az, and to Los Angeles, CA twice. I will drive my cars to the local cruise night to show the cars off. I am part of the local Packard club, I am the Editor of the local Packard club newsletter. I have owned the 1955 Packard for 13 years and in 8 years I have driven the 1955 Packard 50,000 miles ( for a 50-55 year old car that is a lot.)

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that Jesus is the Christ and our Redeemer. I know that he died for us and through him my sins will be forgiven. I know through Joseph Smith, the Church of Jesus Christ was restored. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I know the Bible is the word of God. I read both books, the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is the prophet today that we follow. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve in my church and I serve both in and out of my church. I know that tithing is a true principal of the gospel. I know the Temple is a sacred place and I love going there, the peace inside the Temple is awesome.

How I live my faith

My current calling is working at the Temple one day a week. Since I have Monday and Tuesday off, my Bishop heard about my weekends and heard the Temple needed volunteers. I have been volunteering a the Temple now for over 3 years and I love it. I love going to church on Sundays and seeing all my friends there and learning more about the gospel and partaking of the sacrament to renew my covenants. When I miss a Sunday and don't go, my week is really messed up, not every thing goes right. I don't feel the spirit all week and I miss that.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Duane
The money that is collected from tithing goes to building the church up. It goes for new buildings, lesson manuals and other materials used in teaching. It does not go into the Prophet's pocket, nor the local Bishop's pocket. All the jobs are callings and we volunteer our time and we are blessed for this. Show more Show less
