Hi I'm Corry Wood

I'm a Mormon. I have a passion for running marathons. I enjoy hiking through National Parks. I listen to Indie music.

About Me

I am from the beautiful state of Utah, having hiked or explored most of its national and state parks, and wilderness areas. I currently live in Arizona as I am a student at the local community college and soon to be transfer to ASU. I am studying to become a mechanical engineer and hope to stay in the area. I love to run and always try to find time for it in my busy schedule. I participate in 10k, relay, half-marathon, and marathon races and I'm currently training to qualify for the Boston Marathon. I am very passionate about music, especially in the indie genre. I find myself happy when I can feel the overpowering music or connect to their lyrical thoughts.

Why I am a Mormon

I am so grateful to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My Heavenly Father has given me so much. I have a strong, loving family that can be together forever. I have friends that honestly want what is best for me and help me when I fall both in following the Savior, Jesus Christ, and in my every day life. I have a purpose in my life, by knowing God's personal plan for me and seeking to follow it I can be happy with where I am and hope to return to Him someday. I feel the Spirit of the Lord telling me it is true each time that I read the scriptures, pray to my Father in Heaven, hear the words of the living prophets, and learn in my Sunday meetings. I know that when I have a change of heart and repent to the Lord I can be forgiven and then feel light and clean as I strive to do good. I know that because Christ suffered for all of of our sins, temptation, pains, and all of our struggles, He can lift us, strengthen, us, and most importantly understand us personally. I know that when we follow Him and help others just as He did we can find true happiness.

How I live my faith

Currently I am serving in my local church group, or ward, as a committee member to plan activities to bring together the young, single adults. These activities are always fun and uplifting and give members the chance to meet each other and make friends, and even date as they look for someone special to marry. I also work with wards throughout our city to plan the same type of activities that would involve the young, single adults from all over. We have created groups for personal interests like music or hiking, planned and organized dances and other holiday-based activities, and worked with the community to provide service whenever we can.
