Hi I'm Lynn

I grew up in beautiful Northern California, married, settled down to raise a family in the Midwest and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife & mother of five children, grandmother of 15 - soon to be16! My life has certainly been exciting but quite ordinary. I was able to be a "stay-at-home" mom until our youngest was about ten and then began an incredible part-time job with great people and still enjoy that job today. My claim to fame was winning a school spelling bee! Not a lot of time for hobbies but I enjoy light exercise like walking, studying scriptures, and reading, especially stories and articles written by my children, who inherited my love of words and writing.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a little child and living in a very small town in the mountains of Northern California, my parents sent me to a small Protestant church. It was an old building with a pot belly stove and a few wooden chairs. Even though I was very small, I came to love the Lord Jesus Christ. There was no doubt in my young heart and mind that He was real and that He loved me and watched over me. This knowledge was a gift that would carry me through my first 20 years of life. One day, my life fell apart. Dreams were shattered, faith was tested, and I wondered if God was really there after all. If so, how could He let this happen? My cousin, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was the kindest, most Christ-like person I knew. She helped me to understand that sometimes when doors close, it is not because God isn't there for us; it is because He has something more for us. As I began to learn about the teachings of Jesus in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I prayed for God to show me that He was really there and what His will for me would be. I learned that the Church Jesus had established while on the earth had fallen apart after His apostles died, as prophesied in the Bible but also as stated in the Bible, it had been restored to the earth by a latter-day prophet named Joseph Smith. This same prophet with the gift and power of God, brought forth another witness for Jesus Christ called the Book of Mormon. I studied many scriptures and prayed to know for myself if these things were true and God answered my prayers. I knew by the joy and light that filled my soul that these things were true. My testimony of and love for my Savior Jesus Christ increased.

How I live my faith

Having this stronger testimony of Jesus, I desired to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to devote my live to serving Him, which is what I have done. Through the years serving Him has brought me much joy as I've raised a family, taught various classes in the Church to members of all ages, kept Church records, visit members in their homes, and served in leadership positions in the Church and in the community. Living my faith means striving to do the things Jesus teaches us to do in the scriptures such as being kind, honest, and respectful of others and helping those in need. Sometimes serving is very simple, like being a good neighbor or just smiling at people. It is so easy to lift someone's spirit a bit with a smile and you are happier, too!
