Hi I'm Derek

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in San Fransisco but, was mostly raised in Vacaville, California. I'm super easy going. I love to relax with my friends and sit down and have a good time. I love good conversasions. I love to goof around. I grew up playing euro and strategy board games with my family and still love to play them. I'm a soccer player. I'm a huge San Jose Sharks fan. I love the small things and moments and I try to appreciate all that God has given me. Pretty much, I love to enjoy life!

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I was born into the church and I needed to know if this really was God's true church. So I decided to read the Book of Mormon and ask God if it was true. After I finished praying, I felt this feeling of comfort and peace. I knew this book was true and that Joseph Smith truly was called of God to be a prophet to restore or bring back His original church that Christ set up when He came on this earth. With time my testimony grew as God answered my prayers and as I felt the Holy Ghost play such an important role in my life leading me to do what was right and what my Father in Heaven wanted me to do. From the feelings I've had from the Holy Ghost, I cannot deny that this is not true. It all makes sense. God will always tell us what His word is and what is not. I know it is true and you can know for yourself by just reading the Book of Mormon and asking God with having the intent to act on the feelings that you receive. It's as simple as that.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by acting on the answer that I received from God by serving a mission to preach the gospel so that all people have the chance to come unto Christ and personally know Him. I live my faith by actively trying to become more like Jesus Christ. He set the way and example for us to follow in His footsteps. He even invites us to "Come unto [Him]" and deny ourselves of all ungodliness that we may love Him as He loves us... that we may also love others. It is not easy being a disciple of Jesus Christ, but he will give us the support and peace that we need during our times of great joy and sorrow as long as we rely on Him. Living your faith is actively doing the things that you believe to be true. It's doing the extraordinary or helping someone out.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Derek
Well, how else are we able to preach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ without going out there ourselves and telling the world about it. Jesus Christ did the same thing by commanding His disciples to "teach all nations." So we do likewise. Missionaries usually wear a white shirt, tie, slacks, and a black name tag. Say "Hi" next time you see a set of Mormon missionaries. You never know, if you're in Alberta you might run into me! Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Derek
Yes, it is. Jesus Christ did appear to the peoples in North America after His crucifixion and resurrection. This is a testament that Jesus Christ talks to all of His children on earth. This event also gives us a 2nd witness of the divine ministry of Jesus Christ. He also set His church in the Americas during this visit. Show more Show less
