Hi I'm Shirley

I grew up in Alaska. I am a National and State park enthusiast. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to be outside exploring this beautiful earth. I am a mother of 5 and grandmother of 1. I enjoying spending time with my family doing almost anything. We like to hike, bike, swim, play games and just drive around finding new places to see and things to do. Until recently, I have always lived in the Pacific Northwest United States. I am often awestruck but this beautiful world that God created for us.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My mother converted when I was a small child and my father was a member most of his life. I have chosen to embrace these beliefs because I prayed about them as a child, and more intently as a teenager and received a personal witness that this church is true. We have never lived in places where large numbers of LDS people have lived. I found as I grew into an adult that I had to really believe what I was taught and really want to continue if I was to endure the mocking and teasing of those with different beliefs. I also have read the bible, especially the New Testament and love the spirit and peace I feel from learning about our Savior Jesus Christ. I find my faith and hope is renewed as I face trails in life. I have learned to pray almost constantly for help and often I feel my prayers answered with a warm feeling of renewed hope. I also love the Book of Mormon. I feel the spirit every time I read it. Many times I have read it and I have hated to put it down and carry on with my responsibilities. I feel great joy that my children have also embraced the gospel and are rearing their families with strong beliefs in Jesus Christ and obedience to his commandments.

How I live my faith

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was organized beautifully by the Lord. I have been blessed to work with the teenagers, the children, the women's organization and even the cub scouts through my church work. I am always learning new things and I my comfort zone is always being stretched. And mostly, I am having a lot of fun and making wonderful friends as we serve together.
