Hi I'm Dori

I'm a wife and mother of three boys, I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was the seventh of ten kids growing up. I was brought up with these gospel principles that have helped me in my life. I'm so blessed to have wonderful parents, 5 brothers, and 4 sisters, as my dad always says when we get together, it's going to be a "Big Party", which of course it always is. I love my family so much! I met my husband in Jr High as we had the same bunch of friends, and as time went on he became my best friend, and later out of high school he asked me to marry him. I'm so happy he married me in the temple for all time and eternity. We have three fun boys who keep us busy, we love going to all their sporting events, we are their biggest fans! We probably cheer a little to loud sometimes. ;) We love boating, camping, bowling, playing cards, biking, and watching movies together.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and have always felt the spirit confirm these teachings were true. But, never have I felt the spirit so strong as I did on this one particular day, I can't deny God heard my prayer, I was with my husband and three young boys, when we were in a life and death situation with another family with small children. We got caught in a really bad storm with no power to our boat, as the waves pushed us back and forth into a mountain braking the windows and water filling up into the boat, I had never been so terrified. It was worse than a scary movie, it was really happening to us, I said a prayer to my Heavenly Father like I had never done before, pleading with all my heart to please help us get off the boat safely. I instantly felt a calmness, as if time was going in slow motion, I had a clear mind, and I was able to help throw the kids off to my husband on the mountain, as he tossed them up to the bushes before the boat came back to crush them. It's hard to describe such a terrifying situation, we were all able to get off the boat and climb the mountain to safety. I told my family and friends on the way home about my pleading prayer for help and the undeniable feeling that came over me and I had to write about it in my journal as well, I knew God heard my prayer, and I know the spirit of God was with me and helped me that day. I prayed to my Father in Heaven to thank him when I got home. I get teared up just thinking about this experience, but I am now thankful for that experience, as I can't deny something more powerful than me, helped me. It has really strengthened my testimony.

How I live my faith

I try to live my life with Christ like love. I try to make others happy, even if it's just a smile to a stranger at the store, I think it's important to love others. It always makes me feel happier. I work with the Young Women in our Ward, ages 12-14, I love my calling. I have so much fun with these girls and they teach me so much. It's nice to be around all these girls at church and on our activity night, because at home I'm surrounded by boys! I try to say my prayers often, study the scriptures, and attend my church meetings. I've been going to church for 34 years and I still learn something new every week or I'm at least reminded of something I could work on or be better at. I just try to be the best I can be every day, and I'll keep on trying.
