Hi I'm Corein

I'm a 57 year-old wife and mother of two grown adopted daughters. I have been a member of the church all my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have eight brothers and sisters. I have fond memories of growing up in Idaho. We took many camping trips in the summer. I have a love for the mountains and the out-of- doors. I met my husband at work while we both were going to college. We settled in Phoenix, Arizona and raised our two daughters there. My two daughters are grown and have homes of their own now. I am very involved in my church. I have taught classes for all different ages and lead music beside many other things. I read, swim, and take piano lessons. My life is very busy and happy. Last year I lost my father. It was a great loss but because of my faith I know I will be with my father again. That gives me great comfort.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents didn't go to church very often. As a child we lived within walking distance of a church so I would go by myself. I liked the feeling that was there. By the time I was a teenager I was taking a religious class called seminary. We were challenged by our teacher to find out for ourselves if the church was true. The way to do that was to read the Book of Mormon. I wanted to know with a burning in my heart if the things I was being taught was true. So throughout that school year I read the book of Mormon. Towards the end of the year as I was rushing out the door to catch the school bus I got a warm feeling from head to toe. It was so overwhelming that I had to lean against the wall. My heart burned within me. I knew that it was the Holy Ghost bearing witness to me that the Book of Mormon was true. With this great feeling I felt I wanted to shout to the world that it was true. I wanted everyone to feel the joy that I was feeling at that moment. I knew that the Lord loves me and that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. Christ suffered and died for me. Because he died and was resurrected I can live again with my family. What greater blessing is there than this? There is no great joy or happiness to me than this.

How I live my faith

The best way to start my day is to pray to my Father in Heaven. I get started on the right track. It focuses my mind on being kinder to people around me. Hopefully I see them more like a loving sister would. Being a member of the church gives me opportunities to serve. I love music and so I have broadened my talents. I have learned how to lead music. It is fun to teach children new songs. I love their enthusiasm. I love to teach the gospel. I get excited about learning new things and sharing that knowledge with others. I have become a better teacher with the opportunities that the church has given me. I have taught young children, teenagers, and adults. I learn as much as they do. I love seeing things from their prospective. there are also many opportunities to do service work that is organized through the different church organizations. There are opportunities to grow close to others as I do service projects. The possibilities to serve are endless.
