Hi I'm Doug Gould

I was baptized at the age of 10 in Oakland, California, and have been happy living my life as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I'm the husband of Kaye, having been sealed in the Oakland Temple in 1966. We are the parents of four married children, and grandparents of 18 terrific grandchildren plus two great grandchildren. I graduated from Brigham Young University in 1984 with a Bachelor's degree and in 1988 with a Master's degree in Library and Information Science. My real passion is for scripture study, with faithful scholarship that helps me understand God's sacred word, and inspires me with additional light and knowledge for living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I consider myself to be a life-long student of the scriptures, and a devoted disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I love feeling close to our Heavenly Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ, which has been my great joy in life thanks to the gift of the Holy Ghost that I was given at an early age. I was introduced to the Church by two elementary school friends that invited me to attend Primary with them after school. When I told my Mom about it, she was thrilled, because she had grown up in Salt Lake City as a member of the Church, but was less active in my early years. At the age of 16 I made a commitment to live the standards of the Church faithfully, and to dedicate my life to serving the Lord, doing what I could to help build His kingdom here on earth. That commitment has carried me through life, having raised our children in the Church and still making every effort to teach the Gospel to our family by example. As a young man I served a mission in Peru in the early 1960s, and it was there that my testimony became the rock foundation of my life ever since. I love the Lord Jesus Christ, and the assurance I have of life eternal, and the hope of being able to return to our Father in heaven one day.

How I live my faith

Recently, Kaye and I were called to serve a full-time mission in Nashville, Tennessee. This is fulfilling a life-long dream we have had to serve a mission once I retire from my career. We're very excited to be servants of the Lord, and hope to be able to share our love for His sons and daughters that are sincerely seeking to come unto Christ.
