Hi I'm Jeff

I grew up in Arizona on a cattle ranch. I'm a Civil Engineer, I have five great kids, and a wife I adore, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a cattle ranch in a small community. I have always been a member of the LDS faith, but growing up on a ranch, playing numerous sports, and attempting to fit in in a small community sometimes pulled me away from the teachings of the church. I relate to those who have had to study and search for a testimony of the restored gospel, because I relied on my parents testimonies for most of my younger life. I doubted and felt like I could not live up to the standards of the LDS church. I even went on a mission and felt inadequate to be there because of my testimony. I married and had several kids. I got a great education and moved forward with what I felt my life should be when all of a sudden my wife decided that she wanted something else. We were divorced and I was devistated. I have since remarried and have had more kids. I have, through this entire proecess, gained my own testimony of the restored gospel and have come to learn for myself that true happiness lies in my relationship with my Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. My wife and my family are everything to me and I have learned that living the principles of the LDS faith are all about a happy family and marriage. I would not trade that for anything.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because Heavenly Father and Jesus appeared to the boy Joseph in a grove of trees in answer to an honest heart felt prayer. That boy translated the Book of Mormon from ancient writings into the most true book that can be found on the earth today and he did this through our Father in Heaven. The gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth through this living prophet just as it existed in ancient times. The priesthood of God was restored to the earth, giving man the ability to administer the saving ordinances necessary to return to or Father in Heaven. The Temples of God have been restored to bind my family with me for eternity. What a great comfort and blessing it is to me to know that no matter the winds of the world, my family can be together forever. The church provides all of the essential resources I need as a father to help my children become the kind of people that they need to be to withstand the horrible challenges that this world can throw at them. I know that my Redeemer lives and loves me. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that we have a current living prophet in Thomas S. Monson. Having a living prophet today just as in ancient times is just another reason that I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. I really don't know where I would be today without the gospel of Jesus Christ in life.

How I live my faith

My faith assists me and my family to serve in the community. I am constently cooking meals, doing landscaping, mowing lawns, fixing roofs, patching drywall holes, visiting the sick, and much more for others in my neighborhood and community. My son is in the scouting program were he learns to work and be a good member of society. I visit cultural activities that are put on by the church that bring light and happiness to my community. I am currently a Sunday School Teacher. This year we are learning about the New Testament. I have greatly enjoyed learning about the Saviours life and ministry. My brother and I have quite a bit of outdoor cooking equipment, so we are frequently asked to cook pancake breakfasts or dutch oven dinners. I find great joy in serving and helping others and I feel that my kids have been greatly benefitted by helping out and learning that joy is in serving others, not in serving ones self.
