Hi I'm Cory

I'm Cory, I've been in a post-hardcore band and a heavy metal band, i plan on pursuing a career in economics or medicine.

About Me

I'm the fifth of six kids, born in Utah but raised in Georgia. I play guitar, ukulele, and i do vocals for metal bands. My other hobbies include wake-boarding, water skiing, writing and recording music. i also love to cook and eat terribly unhealthy food.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints has always been a big part of my life as i was born and raised in it but it wasn't until i began to read and study the scriptures and pray about them that i came to know it was true. i know that by the power of the holy spirit anyone who sincerely reads the Book of Mormon and the Bible and prays about their truthfulness will receive an answer that they are the word of God from the same spirit that inspired those sacred writings. My testimony focuses around the fact that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. the same God that cared for and guided our ancestors we read of in the Bible and the Book of Mormon is the same God that lives today and cares for us and seeks to guide us to him. If you begin to read the Bible and pray sincerely to know if it is true, you will feel through the spirit that it is. Likewise if you begin to read the Book of Mormon and pray sincerely to know if it is true, you will feel through the spirit that it is. If you would like to learn more about what i believe or about what almost fifteen million members of this the LDS church the "Mormons" believe i would encourage you to read the articles at the top of this page under "Our Faith" and then at the top right of this page to click "missionary request" so that two ordained servants of our Lord Jesus Christ may more fully share with you of how you may grow closer to your savior through faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the holy ghost, and continuing onward in the faith of our Lord.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving a full time mission in southern California sharing the gospel with all that will listen, though especially with those who speak Spanish. a little over a year ago i became a missionary at which point i began to learn Spanish. i thought it would be difficult to learn a foreign language but with the help of the Lord and the gift of tongues it only took around five months before i was completely comfortable in this wonderful language. As a missionary we get up at 6:30 every morning and exercise for a little bit before we begin studies at 8:00. after finishing studies at 11:00 we go out to teach the gospel but when 9:00pm rolls around we have to come back in to sleep and get ready for the next day. this is 7 days a week, every hour of every day for two years and it's the most enjoyable thing i have ever had the privilege to participate in. The work of the lord is spreading through all the world and there are so many people in the southern California area that are seeing the great blessings in their lives of the gospel.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Cory
I've been asked this question many many times over the years and my answer is always yes. Sometimes people will then ask me how i can believe in another book (The Book of Mormon) and my answer is that i believe that God is still God and will never cease to guide his children, be it through the holy spirit or through calling prophets and writing more scriptures. i would invite you to listen to missionaries who can more fully explain this topic to you, just click "missionary request" on the top right of this page. What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Cory
We believe that God has set boundaries on what behavior is acceptable to him and that these boundaries can not be changed by the opinions of man. This does not mean that we do not accept these people only that we do not accept or condone the sin of homosexual behavior. the commandment to love one another applies just as strongly today as it did when our Lord Jesus Christ spoke it. Those who struggle with this sin are still our brothers and sisters. Show more Show less
