Hi I'm Rick

I'm a Mormon. I enjoy competitive road cycling and riding dirt motorcycles in Baja Mexico.

About Me

I am 56 years old and the father of 5 children and 3 grandchildren. I have been married to my wife for 33 years and look forward to the next 33 years. I have enjoyed competitive road cycling over 25 years and have competed in several 100 mile races over the years. My other big hobby is riding off-road motorcycles with my life long buddy in Baja, Mexico. My buddy and I have been riding in Baja since 1985 and we get excited talking and planning for the next big adventure.

Why I am a Mormon

For me, I was born in the church and have been a member all my life. However, I had to decide for myself whether this church is true or not. Although I am not a "convert" in the traditional way, I had to find out for myself if this it the true church of Christ. Before I served my 2-year mission to Argentina back in the late 70's, I gained a testimony of the church. A testimony is a firm belief in something that you know and feel in your heart and soul. It does not stand up to traditional science tests because it is a spiritual. It is like when you know right from wrong inside you. All members must find this testimony, and anybody can find out for themselves. All you have to do is ask.

How I live my faith

Currently I am serving as the 2nd counselor in a Singles YSA Ward. Before that, I served for about 20 years in the Young Men's organization as I had 4 boys to raise. The best Super Activity we did was when we took about twenty five 16-18 year old boys on a 3-day bicycle tour in Southern California. I go to church every week and find comfort and direction in my life in these troubled times. I put my trust and faith in Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father and know that everything else will take care of itself as long as I put forth a good effort.
