Hi I'm Alyssa

I live in Northern California. I'm a wife, a mother of 6 and a friend. I love music, sewing, reading and serving. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a stay at home mom. My husband and I agreed from the time of dating that this was what we both wanted. This affords me time to also enjoy some of my hobbies. I love to garden. Working the earth and being in the outdoors reminds me of the gifts that God has given me. I enjoy reading and expanding my knowledge of other people and places. One of my talents is sewing. My favorite things to make are costumes. I love to cook and create in the kitchen. I help in my childrens school classes twice a week. I also try to attend most of my 15 year olds swim meets, while attending to my 2 year old. It is definitely a juggling act! I do NOT enjoy housework, but I know that it's part of the job description. My husband and I believe in the practice of continued courtship. We enjoy date nights once or twice a month. He is my best friend! My goals include travel, college, and sharing Christ's message with others.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS faith, but as a teen I chose to participate in activities that drove me further from Christ. I wanted to fit in to the small town party crowd. I thought this would make me happy. I learned quickly how miserable it does make you! I chose to take the challenge of faith, and found much happiness in living God's commandments. I now have a beautiful family, and enjoy the challenges that come with 6 children. I grow and learn every day, knowing that I am serving them and teaching them the lessons that Christ taught. When I study the teachings of Christ and his plan for us, I feel a burning inside and know that it is true! I know that we are all brothers and sisters here on this earth, and we are all children of a loving Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I serve in our church as a sunday school teacher for children ages 6 to 8. I love their sweet spirits and their hunger to know more of Christ. I serve on our Cub scout committee as well. I also serve on the decorating committee for church activities. My husband and I feel the importance of family and strive to hold regular family nights once a week. We attend our Sunday meetings regularly, as well as taking our children to youth activities during the week. I feel the blessings poured out upon us as we live the law of tithes. I know that God keeps his promises!

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Alyssa
In the Bible we are asked to give back a small portion of what we've been blessed with. The Lord asks us to give only 10% of our increase. We've been promised great blessings by following this law. I have a true knowledge of this law and it's blessings. I have tested it! I also know that our church uses these tithes for a wonderful purpose, in furthering Christ's work here on the earth.
