Hi I'm Jane

I am a psychology student and a newlywed. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born where my parents both served their missions: Hong Kong. I am an only child with several step siblings and a few half siblings. I am a newlywed. I am a psychology student. I enjoy blogging. I have lived in three countries. I like the color purple. I love ice cream. I want to learn how to do almost everything because I enjoy understanding how things work and the satisfaction of creating. I play the flute. I am an artist. I enjoy hiking and camping. I am a dancer.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to active LDS parents who divorced when I was young. This event was the beginning to my testimony that this life is going to be full of trials, and it is meant to be. I strongly believe that we are given challenges so that we may learn joy. This life is not the end goal - it is just a time of learning and growing; a time of choosing if we want to return to our loving Father in Heaven. I believe that God loves me as an individual. I know that my life has been guided to where I need to be. I am constantly finding blessings... and constantly forgetting them, too, unfortunately. These struggles of ups and downs keeps directing me to the scriptures and to my knees where I am humbled, strengthened, and motivated to share this source of light with others.

How I live my faith

I volunteer at a nursing home in my town by spending time organizing, assisting, and directing activities for elderly. I teach a class of twelve year olds at church. I help organize activities for the adult women in the church. I try to study my scriptures each morning and evening (with my husband), pray often, write in my journal, and enjoy uplifting (and often humorous) videos. I attend the temple each month. I try to stay busy through studying for school, taking art and dance classes, feeding the missionaries, visiting women from my church, and more. It is a goal of mine to improve my use of time by filling it with a balance of uplifting, healthy activities.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Through Joseph Smith, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also nicknamed "Mormonism") was founded by Jesus Christ. Christ founded his church during his mortal ministry (when he was living, teaching, and serving on earth), as we know in the New Testament and the book of Mormon. When Joseph Smith prayed to know which church to join and received the answer to join none of them, Christ and God revealed to Joseph that Christ's church would be restored again upon the earth through him. This is why the Church is of the "Latter-day Saints" - we are the members of Christ's church in the latter-days before his Second Coming (when he will come again to earth). I have a testimony of these truths and I promise that whoever wants to know these things and experience the joy the gospel of Christ brings can also receive a witness through the Holy Ghost if he or she truly believes an answer will come and intends to act upon the answer he or she receives.
