Hi I'm Ammon Simmons

I'm a Techie, Jock, Geek, Outdoor, Winter, Water, ORV sport, Video Game, car, music, movie and life enthusiast and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

How to begin? Well I am from Chelan (Lake Chelan) in Washington (state.) I love my family and am very grateful for everything that they do to help and support and show their love for me. I'm 1/4 Basque and I tend not to stick to a certain clique or hobby when it comes to what I like to do and be. I love to do anything that helps me learn, or gives me an adrenaline rush. In High School and at different points in my life I played football, basketball, track, golf and baseball. I love to do all sports though. In the winter time I love to snowboard, ski, snowmobile, build snowmen and then destroy them and sleep in snow-caves. In the summer time since my whole town is wrapped around part of a big long lake I loved to swim, wake-board, jet ski, jump off of really high places and then do other extremely fun things like dirt biking, four wheeling, backpacking, hiking, running and biking. I love to work on cars, make random movies with friends and have random photo blitz's. Novice parkour is always fun. I love competitive online gaming with FPS. I am a HUGE techie geek, I started building computers when I was 11ish and got into programming a little bit later in life. I am one of those techies who isn't fond of Apple products... I know, I know! That mormon rebel... Oh well. I listen to pretty much any type of music except "christian death metal." Depends on the mood, but things that make me feel happy are always good, better happy than depressing.

Why I am a Mormon

If you knew you were born into the one and only true church would you look anywhere else? I have very good parents who reared my in ways of righteousness and truth. They taught me the Gospel of Jesus Christ and helped me to see the blessings of being a good kid, one of those blessings being not getting into trouble and having those feelings of guilt that seem to weigh you down more than anything. I absolutely adore the Gospel of Jesus Christ because it lets me know what my purpose is in this life, how to grow stronger when I mess up and how the simple, yet profound truth that my family can be together in Heaven forever blesses my life. There are so many people who don't know the answers to life's biggest questions and many don't realize that they have a loving Father in Heaven who is the same God yesterday, today and forever who can and wants to answer their questions. Our Heavenly Father doesn't want us to be ignorant of the wonderful truths that will lead us back to Him. I am quintessentially a Mormon because a Mormon is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and this is the Church that Jesus Christ Himself leads. Unlike other religions we believe and I am sure that we have an open scriptural canon. This means that not only do we have the Bible, but also The Book of Mormon, The Doctrine and Covenants, The Pearl of Great Price and more and more scripture for our day since the Church was restored in 1830. There are prophets on the earth today and God talks to them. They can authoritatively say "Thus saith the Lord" because they ARE speaking with the Lord. The Heavens are open! I know this because the things they say invite me to come closer to my Father in Heaven. Everything makes sense here and you just have to test it out to know it too. Conduct a little experiment if you will, for yourselves and know of the happiness that it can bring you. In summation I would invite you to take nothing I say for truth, but instead ask God who knows all.

How I live my faith

How do I live my faith? I try to follow the Spirit in all that I do which is difficult at times. I am a den leader for cub scouts in my ward. I attend Church every Sunday which is awesome by the way. It's all about taking life one day at a time and trying the best you can. That's how we grow and that's how we know that God helps us individually. He knows us and he knows our strengths and weaknesses and can help us when we are obedient to him. I know that I have felt and have seen growth in my life from living my faith. Christ was a do as I do, not do as I say kind of person. He led by example and all of us can in turn if we follow His. Before you can be a good leader, you have to be a good follower and Christ is the one I follow and even though I am weak and imperfect I can still follow Him.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Ammon Simmons
This question allows me to expound my love of women. We know that the Lord has given the Priesthood to men and not to women, but we don't exactly know why He did that. However there are a few speculations that I've found in my studies that might be able to shed some more light on the subject. The Priesthood is the Power and Authority given to man to perform saving ordinances for the welfare of his children, or in essence the Priesthood is a call to serve. It is my firm belief that all women are born with an instinctual desire to serve others, it is in their nature. Men have to be called to serve and learn of the great spiritual strength that comes more naturally to women than men. In 1 Corinthians 11:11 it reads "Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord." Men have the Priesthood and Women have Motherhood. Women already have motherly instincts by the time they are toddlers and this is because the highest most noblest role and calling that our Father in Heaven can give is that of being a mother. The Priesthood teaches men to be good, in Genesis 3:15 God says that he will put enmity (ill will, hatred, hostility) between Satan and Eve, his seed (followers) and her seed (women.) This means that women are more inclined to hate evil more than men and you can see that throughout the history of the world. Women do much to lead in the Church, they teach classes and have their own organization that works beside the Priesthood. Show more Show less
